1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

This server thing is getting me crazy. To clear up things, So in PC you can't create online lobbies with dedicated servers unless you rent them? And the only way to do it free is with your PC performing as a server? How stable is that and is it possible to do races of 16 people (like on consoles with dedicated servers) with lets say 50 mbps of download speed and 15 mbps of upload speed?

That is correct, unless you have a computer in your home that you can have acting as a dedicated server. I havent tried myself but @ShredatorFIN have a pretty powerful PC and say was only able to do 5-6 cars according to ^

this is what the FAQ says about connections:
    https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?faq/dedicated-server-manual.28/

    !!! ALERT !!!
Please be aware that, in order to have a good online experience, AC requires that you have a good quality connection (both ping and stability). So, please, do not play online while your connection is under stress (torrent, Windows updates, shared connections) and, most importantly, do not run servers using extreme configurations. This means that if your connection has a low upload bandwidth, you should not run a server with 24 slots.

Please have a look at the acServerManager tool to have an idea about your approximate bandwidth usage.

Im not sure what is considered low though. But if you have that upload speed it shouldnt be any issues to host 16 ppl or even more. It also stress your PC if you have it act as the server, so just because the upload speed is there, its doesnt mean it will be a good experience if your pc cant handle it + you runnin gthe game at the same time.

I have good PC but my connection isn't great, especially upload speed (10/1 connection), maybe we could have handled more cars but didn't really try it (actually a friend of mine with prior experience in hosting AC servers told we shouldn't open more slots due to my low upload, so we limited it), afaik it's limited by connection speed at least (and like kofotsjanne posted)

Ok then. Im glad they chose to not add this on consoles on the release and later add what they added.

People should value that a lot.

Like I've said, dedicated server for free as in console and you can hire dedicated servers closer to your country with better connection / ping.

The rest of the warning is pure logic...
Don't use any programs that use your connection to have better speed..

How do you want that your own PC act as a dedicated server... No sense

No, the words dedicated and server was wrong. The PC act as a server. You are wrong. I just hope that any of the devs can tell you that so you can stop spread this, people might actually believe you.

I found this. I wonder if that will be enough for you....

    Look good what Aris said...

"AC PC has been created with dedicated server support"

The console version is also on dedicated servers.

But the only difference is to open a server, in PC you have to do it outside the game...
In consoles It's been implemented into the IU cause they couldn't make it equal as on PC obviously.

But the system and main options to open the server is equal as on the PC version.

  9. yes they both use dedicated server software. The difference is that for the console we provide the servers, as in the physical machines that are running the dedicated server software.. while on the PC we don't and people will have to come up with their own physical machine to run the dedicated server software.
This can be the local machine at home, but home internet connections usually don't have enough upload bandwidth to host a race with many cars.. so the norm for the PC world is to rent a remote dedicated machine and run the server there.
The system on the console is way more complex because it will have to scan for available physical machine to use then remote configure the software running on that remote machine which will have to propagate the information.
    Hope this clarify the situation.

Good morning, while on the subject of the servers, would it be much work to create a break between when qualifying finishes and race starts for the private lobby's. The players vote to start race or the person who sets the room up does it.
    Thank you.

You mention the upload bandwidth but how is it with system resources when you game at the same machine? Dedicated servers use a ****load of cores and alot of memory compared to most regular home pc's so i assume its pretty demanding on pc aswell and your own experience will suffer.

    And thanks for the answer

  12. I don't think so... dedicated server software is quite light both in CPU and memory usage, we run a good number on a single machine.

When will the RTR DLC arrive at console?

So it's the internet conection what determinates if you can "host" dedicated servers on your computer.

Yup thanks for the clarification and your time Stefano!
For sure that the console world is quite different and sure complete different to work with.

So basically on PC to have a good "hosting" depends more on your Internet connection.. If you have a weak Internet connection that can be helped by "renting an server" if i understand correctly what you said.

So, do you finally accept that we console players have something the PC guys don't have? I.e custom lobbies? You have been told this on many occasions on more than one forum but refused to accept it.

Nope, because custom lobbies they have and even better than console with mods as minorating.

The only thing that was discussed here is the difference to open lobbies and how servers work on both platforms.

Like i said a lot of times,I've got a lot of team mates that play on PC assetto and iracing, and the case of assetto is that the team started to organise private leagues on PC since 2014.

Only difference in open a lobby is that in console it's in the main menu now and in PC it isn't.

But, like I've said the discussion was how dedicated servers work on console and PC

It will come when v1.15 is available. Kunos have said it will be a soon as possible. There was a little delay because of XboxOne issues with the previous update.
