It sounds like you are taking slightly too much speed into the corners and exceeding the tyres grip?

So Saturday Night, just under 24 hours left to go, 47 players have now posted a time , a good mix of improvements and new entries today, along with some great tips from the fast guys! It's great the way different folks get enthused over the challenge each week, you can see the sheer enjoyment that is taken from the experience in the post made, of course there is a flip side to that coin as well...

I think it will be worth exploring a slower rear wheel drive car very soon, ideas on a postcard please!

It's a shame you can't see tyre choice on the pit/hotlap screen on console, the stock AE86 is really good fun at Brands Hatch Indy on SV tyres (worth a try offline if your bored.) I'd still love to see the AE86 Tuned used at some point, it's one of my favourite cars in AC.

Spoiler: This car has to be used at some point as well! It's a time attack car so perfect for WHC, it seems slower though in 1.12.

 

I guess you found the free time .

I certainly can go slower into that turn but if I do that then my 2:23.4 becomes a 2:25.4. There doesn't seem to be a balance. It's either fast and sling it all over the place, or to hit the apexes requires overall slowness. Like on Graveltrap's onboard through turn 14, he's way out to the right but still has enough grip to accelerate out of there. If I'm that far out there I'm going off track. I have to cling to that inside curb enough to accelerate out after the apex and I still end up with my right side tires on the red curbing.

 

I think I saved some video of a slightly slower lap with the pedal app open, I'll see if I can find it and clip it up.

Turn 14 is one that can make or break my lap, difficult entry to spot and it goes on forever! I really haven't figured out the best way to approach it!

slower RWD? I would say either the MX5, AE86 or GT86.

I am away in Wales all week next week, so doubt I'll get much of a chance to have a go, but as I am a fan of classic japanese metal, i'd say AE86.

Shame we don't have a Japanese track like Tsukuba to go with it!

 

The slower rear wheel driver car will be week 23 I think, Week 22 is going to be the 911 Cup Car at Silverstone, I just have to decided between the National or GP version.

The National circuit is the one used by the Carrera Cup GB for those outside of the UK, the series is part of the BTCC package, they do make an occasional visits to the GP track in 2016 the series supported the WEC race.

The Porsche Supercup when it comes to the UK will be on the GP circuit as that series is part of the F1 support package.

Other stuff.

Brands Hatch Indy has been mentioned a few time of late, we have just visited the GP track, so it will have to wait for a little while, unless you guys really want to use for something...

Is the highlands circuit suitable for hotlaping or does it suffer similar problems to Black Cat?

I also need cars for Nurburgring GP (GT) sprint, and Spa. Vallelunga is set unless the timing is indistinguishable between layouts! It's annoying the the circuit name doesn't appear on the console session screen!

 

This was a fun combo for sure. With your suggestion of a little "tuning tinkering" I was able to bring my time down. Unfortunately, my attempts are limited because of the Xbox save setup bug, but I wanted more of this one. Felt like I could really progress, whereas the others, some you feel you hit a wall. I love the final turn, with my hard rear tires allowing a neat '10' in drifting. Momentum my man, momentum.

Haven't been able to put the laps in that I wanted this week, so nowhere near the 2:23.xxx I thought would be a good time for me.

 

Actually, I am going to say that this weeks challenge was the best for a noob like me.

Thanks to those tips from @andy-riches & co I've manage to understand driving (racing) a bit better. This combo was perfect for understanding basic setups and driving techniques. I've learned today that slower is sometimes faster in terms of gaining time due to proper racing line.
And just when I thought, I can't shave off more time, there you go...probably, for you guys not a massive improvement, but for me it's huuuuge!
