1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I don't think I can buy an i7 7700k, I'm pretty sure the place I use only has i7-9700f coffee lakes from $438.88, i7-9700 coffee lakes from $459.00,
and i7-9700kf coffee lakes from $469.00 and i7-9700k coffee lakes from $549.00. I'm not sure what the difference in performance is between them, like what they actually do.

if I were to upgrade right now I'd look at the i5-9600k - apparently it's one of the best bang for buck Intel CPU's out there atm...

Note - I read this when I was just doing some general surfing on intel cpu's a few weeks ago...

wow $350 doesn't sound too bad

  9. This is the only valid answer to your question.

If you've "just" the money for an I5-9600K you've to go for it. If you're able to get an I9-9900K take this one.

And keep in mind to get CPU/GPU combination right.

There are many variables to consider but to answer the question specifically, if buying now the fastest CPU for VR is the highest end intel consumer CPU you can get as long as it ends with a K

The Ryzens are good (I run a 3800X) and have other benefits, purely for VR and sim racing they will be a little slower then Intel, especially when the Intel chip is overclocked.

They will have an upgrade path though when new chips are out while Intel won’t.

If not wanting to upgrade later I’d still go Intel

So wait is the difference that noticable? what gpu do you run?

  14. Serge M

    Serge M Alien

Yeah, would be if the Intel CPU is running at 5Ghz, it’s not night and day massive but I’d say 10% or so and with sims every little bit makes a difference.

    I run a 1080Ti

I have an 9600k overclocked to 5GHz on all cores and paired with a EVGA 1070FTW.
On a 41 car grid in Spa 24hr race, I run at only 73% cpu occupancy, so its being held back by my GPU which runs at 99% occupancy.

Is that total occupancy or highest on single thread occupancy? But yeah, that GPU will be the limiter

Someone recommended amd for processor and nvidia for gpu... is that good or should I go the intel route for vr?

without being annoyingly vague, both CPU brands have their strong points... you need to decide what you find important and pull the trigger...
