1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

What is a good Intel processor for a vr build?

Discussion in 'ACC Hardware Discussions' started by higsy, Nov 15, 2019.

  1. If you're looking for the signature on a mobile try the landscape mode. This is how it works for me.

The AMD's have the better price/performance ratio. The Ryzen's are the better choice for pure multithreading like rendering, unpacking.
For pure gaming Intel is still leading. Not by that much but still.

So it's up to you. You alone have to decide what your system should mainly build for.

There are many videos and reviews out there.
As i always say.. 9700k for pure gaming.
I'm very happy with that choice

Think I’m going with intel i7-9700k as I am some what familiar with their systems and it’s reliable.

Does anybody know when the new intel processors (i7's) will be released. Cannot find anything in the web. Before christmas maybe? I would like to send my old 2500k into a photo frame and reserve a special place for it at the wall.

  5. I don't think anybody knows anything specific about 10th gen Ice/Comet Lake but Intel. Rumors: sometime 2020.

    You should ;)

    It's well deserved :)

the 9700k is a waste of time IMO.

the 3700x is the CPU to go for now. You want 8 cores plus threading to stay ahead of the consoles.

Intel need to suffer too so don’t support them.

It's not about support. It's about pure gaming performance. Most people don't care about blues reds or greens. The just want the best. And the best just for games is 9700k.

assuming you are ignoring the 9900k and ks because they haven’t been mentioned, the 9700k has no life in it, when games start benefitting from more than 8 threads it’s going to be left behind.

if you’re going intel it’s 9900k or ks or nothing IMO

Maybe.... in 5 years. Until then 8 cores at 5ghz for 350€ are more then enough.

Edit: I'm ignoring everything over 8 threads cause no game is using more then 4. And it's gonna be like that for a long time. Even if this changes, still, you have 4 more very fast cores. Not threads.

My 9600K@4.8 gets almost maxed out on all 6 cores when I race so defo using more than 4 cores ;)

9700k isn't pure gaming, that would be 9900ks! 9600k is 8c only no hyperthreading.

I don't understand why people think that HT is any good for gaming... and why more then 8 cores will do anything...
I'm talking about a cpu at 350€ that has more then enough cores to run every game out there now and in the future and one with the fastest IPC.
If you think otherwise then you should do more research.
Anyway... your money your choice. Im'm just trying to help some people to spent hard earning money wise

Are you CPU Or GPU limited? Do you think there is a single situation where the 3700x won’t cope with ACC?

of course if you are trying to push 240fps at 1080p then the Intel CPUs are the way to go but don’t forget that they keep getting patched and losing performance anyway.

I’m pretty sure ACC is not locked to one core but you can prove me wrong, no problem.

If you are doing nothing other than ACC, don’t care what the future might hold with gaming, want to make sure that your CPU is giving you more FPS than your GPU will ever handle (triples at 1440p for example), are happy to buy into a dead motherboard platform, don’t mind that about the exploit patches and probably need to spend more money on a CPU cooler then be my guest and keep giving Intel your money.

Me, I prefer to keep my options open and not put myself down a dead end for one use case scenario.

    5 years ago when I bought my 4790k I nearly went i5.

going 4c/8t gave my PC an extended life.

being stuck on 4c/4t is now becoming an issue.

One Last post on this from me for now!

remembering that this is about VR I guess you need to make sure that whatever you buy will give you 90fps+ in ACC under your given grid size requirements.

if the 3700x will do it then there’s no reason to go intel IMO.

anyway I would go AMD if I wasn’t waiting to upgrade.

Doubt you’ll be unhappy with the 9700k in the medium term
