1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap #90 - Getting speed tickets

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap #90 - Getting speed tickets

    The Challenge.

    Car: Abarth 595 SS
    Track: Highlands Short

    ambos.jpg
    Assetto Corsa_4.jpg

A crazy challenge, this one, but not by our usual standards.
A couple of weeks ago, Andy-R sugested a dual challenge, with the Mazda Mx5 Cup and the Abarth 500 AC at Silverstone International. I liked the ideia, because i also thought of doing something similiar aswell. The thing is that there was already a similiar challenge with the Abarth at Silverstone, and i avoid repetitions as much as i can. But the ideia sparked another one i had from quite some time. Doing the Highlands Short with the mytical 595!
I still remember Svenvangent's challenge "The big challenge and be a man", which, for those of you who don't know/remember, consisted of lapping the Nordschleife with the 595. Well, this is the exact opposite: the track is rather short,so you won't die of boredom. Plus, HS is quite the hidden challenge:lots of places were you can make time or completely ruin your chances of a good lap!
About the 595...in 1957, Fiat lauched one of the first ever city cars ever made - the Fiat 500,a small and rather cheap vehicle specifically designed for everyday using in the streets. The 595 from Fiat subsidiary Abarth is a bit more sportive than the regular version. 32bhp and 440 kg.The 50's,right?

    pista.jpg

We never had Highlands Short, in fact i believe it's the only track missing in our list. Like i said, there is more to tell on this track than the 1,714 km would let us belive. The corner right before the finish line is one of the examples,as we all know by now i guess since this part of the track is used for every Highlands layout. Entering the city, and the 2 consecutive right handers are quite the challenge to get right, specially if you brake too late...
Well, but with the 595 it's going to be a walk in the park...or maybe not! The car almost doesn't require braking, but still you will be tempted to do a little bit on some parts of the track. Remeber this is a 32bhp car (useless advice from me,you will never forget it :p ) so a bit more of braking and the car will be slow to recover the lost time.
He's an old sir,so be gentle with him! :)

    The Rules.

    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Factory
    Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

    The Deadline.
    Monday August 6th 2018 - 21:00 GMT.

    How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Abarth 595 SS and head to Highlands Short. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple :) All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier. Also,to avoid mistakes on laptimes, please enter them with the format x.xx.xxx. This format makes it easier to work with Excell.
A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leaderboard but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Good luck and have fun ;)

    Great combo!

If you think you have RWD under control, but never tried this car then probably you might be surprised.

I remember when we raced it last year, it was a good fun... although the walls seem to be moving towards you sometimes. ;)
I think 1:08ish was the pace.

what is really crazy for me:
with cars like this they drove hundreds of km in the holidays. with more than 2 adults sometimes. o_O
same here in germany with the käfer.
today nearly every familiy with kids has a touran or similar size.
and with more than two kids a ford tourneo or vw t6 or something like that.:rolleyes:
    times have changed a lot....;)

I amended my suggestion to Silverstone National which has never been used and still would work well enough. I think the Mazda might have an edge there but not by enough to cause issues.

This is a fun combo that I can join at the end of the week once we're back from vacation. When I discovered/bought AC my first mileage was a lot of laps with the 595SS around multiple tracks.
I did 1:10's on Highland Short and was so happy. Now let's also challenge myself and see if my simracing skills have been improved over time. I think also the tire model and maybe some physics changed for the older cars about a year ago. So not sure if it is fair to compare?

Enjoy and see you on track soonish ;)

I have a question about track temperature and grip. I changed the weather conditions to cloudy like sissydriver and was faster also. Not by a second, but over 3 tenths. The track temperature was 14 degrees C colder than my previous best set with clear conditions. Does a colder track temperature give more grip? I thought it was the other way round.

Also, if track grip is set to 100% will raising or lowering the track temperature have any effect?

  19. Andy-R

A complete guess but if you are only doing a few laps inbetween restarts and have tyre blankets on maybe the tyres are starting off too hot and the cooler track temps are bringing the tyre temps down faster to somewhere closer to optimum temp?

Hugo Catarino and the3ws like this.

Colder air is more engine power. The only way temperatures affect grip is through tyre temps, never through track grip.

exactly. that is what i hoped. this small car can benefit from every little more power. acceleration, when you can call it acceleration :D, seems to be a bit better. but normally i make so many mistakes i never know exactly what is placebo or not.
