Alien Driving Tips/Help Needed: Nurburgring

Are you alien types using 6th gear anywhere on the track? Are you guys using 1st or 2nd gear in Turn 1?

 

Not using 6th, upshifting pretty much at rev limiter and using 1st.

All 3 things together are only worth 2-3 tenths vs doing all the opposite.

 

Have you any clue what the power curve looks like?

I am a few seconds too slow and will take a few tenths improvement anywhere I can!
So, 2nd gear or 3rd gear exiting this corner: (and I know I am offline, just wanted a good pic since I still after all these years haven't learned corner names)

 

2nd gear.. I will leave a hint as to how to drive ACC fast and that is its the same as AC in that you need to avoid as much of the tire scrub and squeal noise as possible so tune the setup so the car turns in to the corner by its self with little effort by you. I find the default settings alittle stiff btw

@Neilski no idea about the power curve I just imitated Paolo...initially shifting at blue leds felt faster but it appears it's not.

 

Would love to see some Motec telemetry of Paolo's lap... his transition into trail braking must be incredibly smooth and well timed...

 

Yeah would love to see Paolo's inputs for comparison sake. It is a really nice lap.

I have sometimes such moments when I get some out of this world grip in some corners but I'm unable to repeat that a second time.

I always feel like I need to turn the wheel too much since the car wouldn't rotate. I feel like I need to adjust my driving style to improve my times. I currently do a 1.57.06

 

It can become really frustrating trying to achieve a perfect lap. I set my Personal Best, then on the next lap I gain 3 tenths on a corner, but end up losing it all on another.
My tip is to get some rest after every hour and a half and so. After some time, if you keep forcing yourself to try to go as fast as possible it becomes counterproductive, the brain seems to learn a lot when you're resting.

I drive exactly the same as Paolo. The only difference is I do it in 2:00

 

I get you. My corner lines are pretty similar, except for Müllenbach, but his driving isbso much more smooth. I get oversteer in every corner.
Nice to see just how bad a driver I am. I guess I need to start looking at the setup as well. Managed to shave off .800 in the only stint I managed to do this week, so there might still be hope for some improvements. Currently at 1:57,3 with almost default safe setup and normal fuel.

 

Avoid squealing must be one of the keys for my improvement. Can do stable 1.58.xxx and sometimes 1.57.xxx .
Comparing with the fast guys my lambo squeals too much.

That video is really interesting.
His steering input is gentle at first and only after slowing down he steers in more into the sharper corners. It's all extremely smooth.
He also brakes earlier than I do on most corners.

Also interesting to see is that setup must have some effect. I can not achieve the same turn in, regardless of my steering input into corners (I use the safe setup). My car won't turn in as quickly as his car does.

Shaved a second off my PB overnight by just changing DOR on my wheel from 540 to 1080. Now I'm at 1:57.3xx, and I can definitely do a 1:56 if I can stop losing time at Ford Kurve and Dunlop. They're my killers today - usually, it's turns 1-through-4 but with less scrubbing now I'm faster there.

 

One thing I don't understand are those super late braking points Whenever I try braking that late I go flying off the track like I was an airplane
