1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap #107 – Happy 70th Anniversary Porsche Sports Cars

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Dec 9, 2018.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap #107 – Happy 70th Porsche sports cars

    The Challenge:
    Car: Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Track: Hotlap Nurburgring Sprint and/or Brands Hatch Indy 5 lap race time
    upload_2018-12-9_22-5-51.png
    upload_2018-12-9_22-6-3.png

Brands Hatch Indy 5 lap race time (see “How to” below)
    upload_2018-12-9_22-6-29.png
    Please enter either or both!

Happy 70th Anniversary to Porsche! I don’t think we have celebrated this anniversary in WHC, if we have, we’re going again!

2018 is the 70th Anniversary of Porsche sports cars. From the start of modern racing cars Porsche’s participation has been hugely successful, their exploits and stories fill an entire library. The first vehicle to bear the Porsche name was registered on June 8, 1948: the 356 “No.1” Roadster. According to the Porsche PR Newsroom, this is the day on which the Porsche brand was born!
    upload_2018-12-9_22-7-9.png

To celebrate Porsche, WHC 107 is giving their 911 GT3 RS a thorough workout, with a double combi.

Considering this car is regarded as one of the best performance road cars ever made, amazingly the 911 GT3 RS has not featured in WHC to date.
The car we have in AC is the 2015 911 GT3 RS (991.1) model. Porsche launched our version of the GT3 RS in 2015, as a more track biased version of the GT3. The roof is made from magnesium. The interior includes bucket seats and a bolted-on roll cage.
Power is from a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six, giving 500 hp (370 kW) and 339 lb ft (460 N·m) of torque and the GT3 RS will do 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 10.9 seconds
The transmission is PDK only. Its Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time is 7 minutes and 20 seconds.
As mentioned, motoring journalists around the world revere this car:
Autocar magazine said: “The engine can unquestionably be ranked among the very best of any super-sports car on the market…. quite breathtaking handling balance and response, and equally astonishing levels of feedback from all four corners of the car.”
Drive Mag in Aus said: “a masterpiece of modern sports cars… from behind the wheel the GT3 RS feels relentless…. By 6000rpm the flat-six is already screaming but continues pulling hard all the way past 8000rpm. And the noise at that point is awesome - it sounds like a Carrera Cup race car.”
Road and Track in the US won’t allow me to look at their write up, but here’s a link that you’ll like from them:
    https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/videos/a25802/walter-rohrl-porsche-911-gt3-rs/

A German circuit is an obvious choice for a Porsche and like the car, it’s the first WHC for the Nurburgring Sprint Circuit.

    Recommended tyre pressures are…
    Hypercar Road fronts = 31ps1 rears = 32psi
    minTR = 75 maxTR = 100

Like many of the Porsche cars in AC, you’ll have to fiddle around for ages with the tyre pressures to get all 4 corners happy… I found, after just 4 laps at Brands Indy, the left side tyres are fine and grippy but the right side tyres are stone cold “dark blue” and the car was quite twitchy!

How to take part - Hot lap:

To enter, select Drive > Hotlap, choose the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Nurburgring Sprint (3629m) circuit. (Not the Sprint GT!) Please setup the session using the settings below:
    Mode: Hotlap Nurburgring Sprint Circuit
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Factory
    Stability: Free

How to take part – 5 lap time:

To enter, go to championship, set up a new championship (min 2 races), choose the Porsche 911 GT3 RS for yourself and any other car for your single opponent, delete the other drivers. Then choose the Brands Hatch Indy circuit first for a 5 lap race. Set up as below. Opponent, practice and quali are up to you. To get your 5 laps time, complete the race in 1st place (!) and once back in the pits, select “Session.” Your best lap time will be shown until the 2nd placed car crosses the line, after which the full race time / the time for your 5 laps will be displayed. Screenshot and share!
For fairness please ensure penalties are set to “on.”

Of course I'm going to show up when a Porsche is involved, let alone the GT3RS!

On a side note, the 991.2 GT3RS might just be my favorite production Porsche to date. Then again, that shouldn't be taking away from the reimagined Singer-Williams 911 that also dropped earlier this year. Porsche seriously killed it in 2018 to say the least! That includes the class victories at Sebring, Nurburgring, Le Mans, and Road Atlanta. And with the 992 now coming into focus I can only hope the GT3RS for that generation is even more special...

First few laps and it’s a fun car, i like it a lot!!
it’s a slippery thing tho but feels nice.
Think I’d gain more time if I learnt how to control it better into the apexes instead of just sliding in
