1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

The Exige 240R finally makes its WHC debut! We are going to run the Stage 3 version because it is about 10% lighter and 10% more powerful than the standard car, and that suits us.
The Lotus Sport Exige 240R (proper name) was developed by Lotus Sport, the performance division of Lotus Cars, as a road car, track day car and race car. It came out in 2005 as a limited edition with a run of 50.
In standard trim, its tiny 930kg is thrown down the road by the ubiquitous supercharged 4 cyl, 1.8 litre super whiny Toyota VVTL-I 2ZZ-GE. With that no-weight-at-all, it is very nippy, 60mph and 100mph arrive in 3.9secs and 9.9secs respectively.
However Assetto Corsa has a Stage 3 tune up and the AC Database has some info:
The stage 3 version of the Lotus Exige 240R, has an upgraded engine with up to 270bhp, much stiffer and lowered suspension with uprated dampers and a locked read differential 25% power and coast. With its featherweight chassis, this car can really put to shame much more powerful supercars on a tight track.

Out on track the acceleration is as rapid you would expect, accompanied by that whiny engine, which for me, has too many notes of baby, crying with malnourishment. It has a working aero package, although I can’t judge its effectiveness and it is probably only in play in a couple of places. But perhaps that is why you can turn the wheel quite brutally in places… and the front sticks….
What will also make you smile is the way it dive bombs apices! Get it slowed properly and turn in is immediate, roll free and to start with, can leave you feeling late to the party with the throttle.
    upload_2020-8-22_18-0-38.png
The Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi, to give it its full name, nestles in the Lazio Hills 32 km north of Rome. The circuit started in 1951 as a tiny dirt oval, converted from a horse racing track, but in 1957 Italian racing driver and engineer Piero Taruffi was brought in to create a new track, providing a better challenge for drivers and test facility for manufacturers.
As I’m sure everyone knows, the circuit is also home to Kunos, who occupy a pit garage as an office.

This challenge is about precision and carrying speed; let’s see you flat through T1, Curva Grande, late on the brakes for Cimini 1 and exciting Cimini 2 with a quarter turn of oppo! Keep it tight!

This week’s challenge is courtesy of Sissydriver, winner of ACC 191 and as his title suggests, we’re going no nonsense with the weather: mid-morning, clear with optimum grip.
Apparently Lamborghini spent a year developing the GT3 Evo. It still has the 5.2 litre, 90 degree V10. Most of the development was to the bodywork and aero but you may also notice, according to Lambo’s website; “changes in the kinematics* of the front suspension. Instead of steel, the supporting arms are now made of billet aluminium, which improves the rolling phase and the connection between the two axles.”
    (I had to google…)
    * Kinematics – the branch of mechanics concerned with the motion of objects without reference to the forces which cause the motion.
Okaaay! I’m none the wiser having read that.
Obviously Aluminium is an awful lot lighter than steel, it would radically lower unsprung weight and deliver all the benefits of that to the front axle though….
    upload_2020-8-22_18-2-2.png
What a great track the Hungaroring is.

It is a bit of a shame then that large parts of the circuit are 1st and 2nd gear in the castrated Bull. Nonetheless, it is about stringing those great turns together and getting into the excellent rhythm this track serves up!

    Stats, Tyres and Times

    For Assetto Corsa
    Recommended tyre pressures:
    - Street: Front 32psi Rear 34psi
    - Semislicks: Front 29psi Rear 31psi
The lap record for Valleunga is held by our very own GoodGame.eXistenZ with a stunning 1:45.600.
    **EDIT - Now improved to 1:45:461 **
Please note, for your own sanity, this is over 2.5 secs ahead of P2!
Anything under 1min 50 secs is good :)

    For A.C.Competizione
In the 2018 Blancpain Series the Mercedes AMG GT3 did a 1:42.688 in quali 2, and the Lambo GT3 (not the EVO) did a fastest race lap of 1:45.255. So that the target.
Recommended tyre pressure is around 27.5 psi (hot.)

I haven't driven the Hungaroring very much in any sim, so this should be a good excuse to learn the track. This was my second attempt and was 8 seconds faster overall than the first attempt, I think I'm unlikely to see that sort of improvement again this week especially from attempt to attempt :D

A great combination. Really good fun.

My MO for the WHL is to do a single make race against the Alien AI straight off the bat and see if I can keep up.

    They did around 1m51.2.

    This will do for me.

So there ya go. It's definitely worth you having a try. :)

Picture shows the tire marks of my favorite point for spinning, at the exit of the 'S'. Too early on full throttle...

A side question, I know stability control is free for our WHC, but in practice what does it do? How much do you guys use? I've been using 0% because I think it should resemble the real car, as i like to replicate de real driving experience, but I'm not sure if this assumption is correct.[IMG]

I think stability control is an artificial assist as opposed to TC and ABS which obviously some cars have for real.

It makes the game more accessible with a gamepad. I used to use it when I was using one. Once I'd changed to a wheel I went to 0%.

I was advised to turn it off as it masks some of the feel & feedback that the wheel can give. Fast players say it will just slow you down.

It's free in the WHL as there's no way to police it.

To get the most realistic experience you're right to have it turned off.

It might have prevented those spins coming out of the esses, but it would have slowed you elsewhere where you want the car to rotate.

@moodyryder , thanks for the explanation. I had forgotten that some people may use a gamepad, I suppose without stability control driving is almost impossible.

Great circuit, but very difficult to feel the tyres bite when turning in.

    At half time:
@GoodGame.eXistenZ is currently top in the AC challenge and has even beaten his original RSR best lap for WHC this week. The rest of the field are in close attendance, just over four seconds later...

Meanwhile, at the excellent Hungaroring, @jo_siffert leads the way with a great set of laps and has a reasonable gap. But we've seen how a @mike reynolds @sissydriver head to head can take seconds off lap times, and I reckon we've got one of those brewing! @sissydriver has a home advantage, as it is his challenge (no pressure :D,) and is probably sharpening his set-up as we speak, Mike could be looking to go up a step.

Sorry for the absence. Everything has become very busy.
Life, family, job and at the same time (finally) fulfilled a long postponed wish these days: to take part in online races.
Amazingly, the CP races so far have been very good, no problems.:)
Ideal to get practice. Avoid the midfield carnage and start last or go the gras and stay last for the first laps. Then gain position for position and try to make less mistakes than the others.
    Its really tempting. :p
There is little time left for the WHC - but the Lamborghini will be taken out of the garage again over the next few days.;)

I started with Labbe's tune for Laguna. I corrected tire psi and fuel. After a few laps I was getting too much oversteer and slightly too much understeer. I lowered the bump and rebound in the rear by about half. The car felt a lot better but still a little understeery so I lowered the bump and rebound on the front too. The car felt pretty good after that.

Vallelunga is a great track I love racing here.
