What i suggest is now that you have a few options, the porsche hornbuckel suggested, the ferrari testorossa etc then you should make a poll because instead of voting people will just ask for their exact favourite car. Add a poll and see where it leads, thats the easiest way to get your answer.
I will admit this is a nice thing to do.

 

Might be a good idea. Take couple cars and ask people to choose one, otherwise it will go on forever.

Anyway...

 

I want the community to choose , where is the fun , of picking 2 cars from 2 people when there is over 100k members , yes obviously this amount won't reply ,
But if 1% do or close to that then at least we will have a better idea ,

Not saying stop now, that's why I deleted the beginning of Brownninja's post, but I think you will have to at some point.
Actually I'm not saying how you "should" do it, I just agreed that it might not be a bad idea to solve it that way later on.

Would love to have the Ferrari Testarossa to give our lovely Countach a playmate.

 

Definitely more of a race car than the Testarossa (which I like too btw).
Actually it is a race car, just not a modern one and not a Le Mans/Grand Prix winner. The other one from the spoiler actually is a Le Mans winner.

A V8 Supercar or a Formula Ford would be awesome. They offer great racing and would be very, very popular.

 

Already some great suggestions in the thread but for me there is one area where AC is sadly lacking right now and that's its low bull content. That's right, we need a loooot more bull in the sim and here's my first choice

Got to be a bad guys and vote for the Porsche team. My choice would be the 1973 911 RSR, there are loads of blueprints aviable, can´t say too much about the accuracy. 1974 3.0 would be ok, as well. Problem would be possible opponents. Would it go against the Escort RS2000?

I'm afraid if we pick a Porsche it will end up dead like every other Porsche project. Its almost like EA hired a witch doctor to curse them en masse.

 

So, I think most of us would like an old sportscar/supercar. Porsches and Ferraris seem to be the favoritos.

I've seen plenty of 911s around, no idea if they are "legal" or not. That's why I suggested the 928 GTS, a 270 km/h, 5 gear, V8 coupé.

On the Ferrari side, the Testarossa is a great choice. Right now I can't remember other good models, I'm not a Ferrari enthusiast.

 

Before a specific car is somehow agreed upon by the majority it needs to be determined if it should be a street car or race car. Somebody set up a poll.
(my money is on race cars winning the poll, but who knows)
