1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

For that price I would have hoped for much better looking buttons on the wheel... Doesn't look like it has that same quality/looks as say some of the fanatec wheels or something Sam maxwell would make which is a shame. Definitely looks like the feel and force feedback is very good

The wheel does look horrible but from the review the FFB sounds very much like the real deal.

Just slap on a real racing wheel of choice and it would be perfect.

I only wish there was a way I could get it sooner.

Had to buy a Thrustmaster TX just to keep me occupied till april/june... :(:(

I will have to spend some more time with AC and give it a proper test. Since I didn't spend a lot of time in it, I left it out. It really is a fantastic piece of kit.

I have to agree that the buttons on the Fanatec wheels look better. However, one of the design concerns for this wheel was the ability for the buttons to sustain extremely high frequency vibrations. Since this wheel can produce vibrations that hum, and can be very intense, it is equipped by default with buttons that are designed to sustain that. I believe that Sam Maxwell is well on his way to producing fancier wheels, and the reason why you can purchase the button box and quick releases separately with the DIY version. The steering wheel is a genuine race car wheel. They are all ugly. :)

  11. As an OSW owner I have to say that I was a bit disappointed how the FFB looks. It looks surprisingly slow and unresponsive for being direct-drive servo. Sure, I can't say how the wheel was adjusted though but this review did not sold me one.

Great review, can't wait to get mine in.

@Nahkamarakatti can you elaborate a bit more please. Osw looks awesome but I lack the time and skill to pull it off. I ordered this instead because of the software package and the overall quality and completeness of the entire kit.

Are you basing this off on what you see on the videos, or the step test chart? As a note, the step test chart does not paint an accurate picture of the wheel.

Almost 2000 dollars for a racing wheel for your computer, not gonna happen, definetly not worth it LOL! You can already build a high-end PC for such money.

Not that I will ever be interested to spend so much money on a wheel, but I do admire the tech, so here's another (kind of) first look/review:

The software seems to be the best part of it.

You can build a high-end PC and get a good mid-high field wheel with that sum of money too.

It just looks like (from the videos and from the charts) they've played safe with the "Speed limit" just to make sure no kid get hurt with their product. Simcommander software is a nice plus though.

I tried to do linearity test for my wheel. Not sure is it correctly made but looks believeable:

Accuforce wheel seems to be the perfect choice for US simmers but the price after shipping + custom fees + VAT's goes so high for Europians that its hard to find a reason to buy it with these specs.

That looks very linear. The important thing to take away from the linearity chart is the how smooth the line is overall. The overall consistency of the angle of the slope depends on the alloted time for the wheel to reach a position, but not a specific position, or rather position reflective of the applied force. In my chart I did 300 samples instead of 50 and plotted it as a scatter along the force. This way you can see the resolution mapped between the different forces. If we compare both of these charts, the AF wheel produces a smoother graph, but the chart shows where it reaches its speed limit. If I change the alloted time difference, say from 300ms to 500ms, the slope is completely different, but the smoothness remains.

For this type of linearity, which is very good in the OSW, this is very much splitting hairs. Yes, there are some jaggies, but still way better than what other wheels are producing. I hardly think such differences are noticeable. It's a bit like comparing 0-60 times in cars and nitpicking around whether it's 4.3 or 4.2. It's absolutely awesome that there is a community out there with the Open Sim Wheel that lets you guys build such awesome direct drive wheels.

The software is a big plus on the AccuForce though, and it is matched up exactly to the specs of that particular AF motor. There are also a bunch of optimizations on the latency and custom controller board chipset which optimizes it further. Plus it has other niceties such as the slip ring on the wheel. As a ready made package it's tough to beat just on the price alone when compared to other ready made direct drive wheels. However, its easy to understand when shipping costs and taxes are ridiculous, so there is nothing wrong with an alternate build that may not have all the refinement but still is just as good. Who knows, maybe one day it will even be better! :)

I remember reading (probably on the SimXperience developer blog) that there would be a number of speed and force profiles available on the final product (and yes, a child mode was mentioned :p) so maybe they have sensibly played it a little safe with the beta testing products setup? As you suggest the hardware is certainly capable of it, but as an off-the-shelf product they need to be a little more careful to offer product that is perceived as 'safer' (you can set it in child mode and let your kids use it) than a DIY build.

I am certainly interested to see what SimCommander offers over the standard Direct X drivers, and this along with the fully electronic quick release really make it a complete product for me. It is just exciting that there are more and more options for hardware at a range of different price points.

OSW looks to be an amazing project but for those of us who just want to plug and play this looks to be the best value.

For those saying it is to much, your right lol. But for myself I wanted something that I didn't need to worry about for years, and consumer grade wheels don't give me those types of assurances.

Yes, there was talk of that but, I haven't read anything about that lately. It's still early days though, the early pre-orders haven't shipped yet.
