1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Thats "announce" again. I did not mean to say that they only announce content and don't announce functionality updates. They do. What I meant to say was that whether its content or functionality, they announce too much and deliver too slow. There is loads of content/features that they have already announced and neither is there a plan nor a timeline to deliver those. All what we hear is "soon" and that "soon" carries on for weeks and months within which they "announce" even more. Maybe its time to stop announcing more things and start delivering whatever features/content they have already announced.

If they don't announce, how will people know that the game is in development to improve the sim racing and game experience. Otherwise people will find other things, so at least announcements of upcoming things isn't a bad practice. But they moved away from announcing dates or timelines. For sure they have their schedule internally within the team structure, but inside the team it can be a flexible schedule as unforeseen events appear, but when dates and timeline are released to the public, bad things will happen if bad things can happen. Such as delays or not being possible to stick to a certain feature or fix promised, so they just announce in general what things they are working on.

Hopefully we who bought AC straight in the start of e.access are first ones who will get into PS4 and XOne betas.

Why? I think there will be a private beta with a selected group of people, either from AC or from outside. But most features and content will might be here first released on PC version, then ported to consoles. But how do you expect to test a ps4/xb1 game? I guess they'll have physical beta testers in a room testing on the consoles.

My thoughts on AC going consoles? Heck, why not, the PC version can only benefit from that. Let's recall that AC delivers a very good physics experience already, and that the hardware of modern consoles easily can support the spec demands of temporary racing titles there are. Also, it is not uncommon that console players use wheels on their consoles, like PC drivers do. Seen that way, there is no reason to assume that a console-AC will suffer in realism compared to a PC version of AC. However, the way Ac is equipped with content and feature quality by default now, it cannot be transported to consoles on a 1:1 basis - because then it would result in a huige commercial failure for Kunos. The racing event experience in aC leaves plenty to be desired, the AI is far from being en par with that seen in other games like R3E and GSC (or as some say in rF2 as well). Why would any console player move from Forza or GT to AC if AC offer shim the inferior racing experience and the terribly stupid AI to be seen in AC on PC now? Kunos has no other choice - they must enrich AC with features, better race experience, better AI, probably also content (considering that you probably will not have a mod community sufficiently compensating for small default content). And why not assuming that they would not withhold these improvements for consoles from the PC crowd? Makes no sense to me to assume they would not feed console improvements to the PC version as well. So, if they go console, I think they will tremendously improve the package in general, else they get their ambitions fed back to them by Gran Turismo and Forza and Project Cars in no time. AC on consoles like it shows up on PC, will not work, I think. Going consoles means necessarily improving the package (race, AI, content), and I think the PC version will benefit from that.

And just in case Kunos is mad enough to plan to not improve the console experience over the PC version, and adds not the improvements I mentioned: then I can only say: Kunos, you better think twice before daring that stunt. It will not work well for you that way - promised. That is no wish or threat - but just my sober assessment. On PC, you were safe from competing for customers with GT and Forza and PC in the first year - on console, you are fighting an uphill battle from day one on. The sales numbers and the fanatism of followers of GT and Forza, are frightening...

I wonder what the % of wheel to pad users is on PC and console?

Looking at the RSR boards pad users seem to be a rarity on PC, with consoles I'd imagine it'll be the other way round, for one thing the number of wheels available for the next gen consoles is quite low irc.

To me it seems that the PC is nothing more than a beta test for the big money prize that is the console market. The lack of finish especially in the multiplayer is evidence of this. The multiplayer will have to be greatly updated for console use, and that's when us PC suckers will get a working version, 2016.

Yeah but when you give the customer what they want you end up with giant malls selling cheap tat, eradicating competition. Turning everything on the planet, even living creatures into stock because all people care about is cheap and immediate. Walmart and it's like wouldn't be my idea of a good business model.

"Yeah but when you give the customer what they want you end up with giant malls selling cheap tat" Only if they ask for cheep tat, I'm not asking for that. And saying the number one Company on the fortune 500 list does not have a good business model is a bit strange.

I ask that Kunos do better. To me I feel like PC gamers are treated like second class gamers, no more than an after thought.

They make lots of money, but the supermarket chain model like Walmart and Tesco are devaluing everything. Forcing cruel farming methods so that farmer supply at obscenely low prices, taking advantage of third world labor, bringing in models of planed obsoleteness for all products from electronics to cars. While they have some positive effects for the most part they're a pretty destructive business model for the world at large.

That's just ridiculous, PC gamers are the only people having any sort of treatment by Kunos.

One last reply, because this is going off topic. I agree to the first thing you said, in an ideal world we'd all grow our own plants and slaughter our own meat or at least buy it locally, no GM no pesticides no cruelty, but as a business model Wallmart has a very good one. The impact on society is a very different subject and up for much debate.

I'm a bit concerned, scared is a bit too extreme :)

I've enjoyed following ACs development for the last year, if it changes direction or decisions are made that I don't like I'll move on. In the end AC is a video game, I can get my entertainment elsewhere.

Yeah concerned is a better word. :) What im concerned about is not that the game will change direction but it wont just be PC the updates need to function on but both PS4 and Xbone so updates may take longer. We'll see how this turns out but I am a bit worried :(

And what happens if the game doesnt do good on the consoles? I dont make games myself so cant say for sure but im guessing that its not cheap to release games on consoles.

One positive thing to announce it now is because more of the console crowd might get interested when they have got a feel for pCars.

See my reply #89 above. Consoled AC is a chance for the PC version benefitting from the necessary feature and content improvements for consoles. But if they release it on consoles in the shape the PC version is in, I think they get sunk. To me it is a classic "all-or-nothing-at-all-scenario". Personally I am hesitent to make such aggressive moves without need or having some very good reason.

Features, graphics, quantity of tracks (not just sub-variations, but original tracks) of Forza, GT, PC, really will light a hot burning fire under their seats. I think it would be a big mistake to assume that what worked on PC (in absence of GT, Forza and PC, mind you) automatically will work on console as well.

So they have doomed themselves to having to succeed in enriching the features, AI, the general package of AC - all those things where PC-AC is weak in.

I see a chance there, yes. But I also think that chance comes at the cost of accepting a very huge risk. I probably would have played it exactly the other way around: first getting the PC package polished, the race features implemented, the AI turned into something competitive with other market AI, also adding more tracks - and THEN moving all that to consoles as well.

But what do I know about financial and business needs of theirs... They certainly play a role, too.

That Project cars sold one million copies in almost zero time, is a message to be understood. Hype or not: one million copies sold in one month is one million copies sold in one month. It shows where the crowd's appetite is.

I totally agree with this post and the other post you did in this thread but you gave the thoughts a much better explanation than i was able to do. :)

Also Kunos might need to do interviews in english gaming magazines now and thats also positive that we not need to use google translate where some things might get a totally different meaning to what they actually said. Im down for a console version as long as PC wont suffer because of it.
