1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Improve ai using ai_hints.ini - Full list of variables and explanation?

    I've been trying to modify some ai problem points on tracks e.g.
    Modern Monza - first chicane - First lap crashes with Ferrari 312T or Lotus 49.

    I've read several posts about using ai_hints.ini for the track. Unfortunately, I cannot find a full list of commands and variables, and how to use them. I've mostly just been using trial and error.

    HEADERS
    [HINT_0]
    [DANGER_0]
    [BRAKEHINT_0]

    Do these have different effects or are they just titles?



    START and END
    START=0.145
    END=0.175

    The part of the track where the effects will happen.
    The figures can be found by looking at NCP in the Car Physics app.
    This app needs to be enabled:
    ENABLE_DEV_APPS=1 in assetto_corsa.ini
    Steam Library\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\assetto_corsa.ini



    LEFT and RIGHT
    LEFT=0.5
    RIGHT=0.5
    Do these "narrow" the track e.g. to funnel the cars into a chicane or to stop them crashing into barriers.
    Is 0.99 (1.00) the maximum value?



    VALUE
    VALUE=0.7
    70% of normal AI speed?



    I would welcome any advice on how they can be used.
    Are there any other variables that I've missed?

    two days to go. Then there is an update on AI. I think it makes sense to wait and see then ;)

    HINT_x multiply the radius of the corner seen by the AI. Useful when AI is too fast or too slow in a corner.. usually due to compression/decompressions but there could be other reasons such as hairpin with long straight after and where the AI is going in too hot loosing in exit speed.
    BRAKEHINT_x changes the AI idea of how hard it can brake in that zone.. again some compression and,especially decompression area might need this
    DANGER_x is an hint that kicks in when the AI is engaged and it's informing the AI to take it easy in that section if engaged.. it's used very rarely

    thanks for your reply on this post!

    Can you point to any further documentation on the ai hints file? Specifically, I´m not sure how to understand the "danger" type - how does it work with the left/right values, and when exactly is this hint-type used/triggered? You mention that the AI needs to be "engaged" for it to be triggered?

    I also saw the use of a "Max Speed" hint in another - I assume it´s self explanatory, but made me wonder if there are other types of hints I don´t know about. Is there a full list somewhere?

    Working on a better single-player experience for some mod-tracks, and very often need to improve lines and hints :)
