1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Online there are too many cheats and offline ai ram all the time.

I think you can, if you are careful (in both writing and reading). I could observe that correlation as well (while working with MR). I even thought about checking a potential wrecker's steam account for that.
But of course I do not, because a correlation has nothing to do with causation.

If you were those 5cm ahead (I mean the gap between the rear of your car and the front of AI's car was 5cm) then you'd have the right to choose any line you wished and if AI bumped into you after that it would've been its fault.

I haven't done a lot of races vs AI, but in those few I did I treated them like human opponents and for the most part AI raced pretty good (although sometimes they are too timid and give up easily), the only exception is when you're lapping them they seem to have to clue that they are being blueflagged and try to race you as if you were on the same lap. Also when their tyres are badly worn they are rather unpredictable on braking and sometimes can rear-end you if they happen to be right behind you.

I only have a question about 4. Are you sure you can't move in reaction to the attacking car changing its line (still respecting that 1 move per straight rule, of course) if you are still clear ahead, I mean if there's no overlap between both of you yet?
I've seen plenty of time people doing that and sometimes it works in your favor against less experienced opponents when the guy you're trying to pass gets himself into a disadvantageous position before the turn because his defending move, and you pass him a few seconds later being able to take the turn at much better line than him and having a better exit as the result.

From what I've seen about AI since 1.3.4 is that they rush a bit too much in corners. Even against their own (AI). But against a human driver who is just normally skilled, if we don't nail well the braking zone and corner apex, the AI might bump him and continue grinding the car ahead or on the side, which sometimes inevitably results in human driver spinning out. My thoughts here are also about current PC users, but also for when the game is on consoles. People will want to use 95-100% AI because of challenge, but at the moment they are too risky to enjoy a race. The problem is that they wreck themselves, not just the human driver. We can see that in first corners of Silverstone and Nurb. GP, with GT3 or single car Corvette C7R.
What I understood, is that AI focuses too much on their lap times, instead of trying to win the race in a driver vs driver race. And in a driver vs driver race, the etiquette has to be higher than lap times. Also, at the moment the AI has no concerns if they damage their car or of the opponent. I think a race driver would mind that.

If I'm sure? No. There is no single source of "racing" rules on this planet. What we did is to combine some FIA (F1+WEC) and Simracing rules to something like .. a suggestion for an common sense of AC rules
So I highly appreciate questions and discussions. (In a perfect world our "community rules" go well with AI behaviour, so @Lord Kunos might want to be a decider here).

But I can tell you what I think:
#1, in public racing, I don't like defending at all. I know, it "belongs" to racing, but this is more true in a depth of leagues. For public racing, defending on a straight is just too risky.
#2 despite that, if you remove the reactive move you move the whole definding stuff to tactical level (instead of a no-brainer). You had to think for your opponent, what will he do, where will we end, how does the next corner entry look like and where do I want to be then?

Ahah, is your nick "world_medic" in game?

I took a bunch of laps @Nordscheliefe Tourist a few weeks ago with a friend of mine. We tweaked the 458 GT2's setup each time and I think the server name was El-Banditos. We reached 6.14.375 lastly and thought this can only be improved for 1 or 1,5 second more. But; a few days later I saw a guy with an 6.08.xxx laptime and shocked. He said he doesn't know English so I couldn't speak with him. I hope he just didn't want to talk because his nick was world_medic and it's clearly English. Some huge differenceses like that make people paranoiac... Maybe he cheated and didn't want to talk anything. :D

Another weird point is sometimes I fail at checksum. I don't know why, I never used cheats.

  7. Checksum failures can occur if an online server has not updated to the version of AC that you are using.

world_medic is a Japanese guy and really does not speak English good enough to chat, but he is not a cheater, he's a fast and clean racer. I had a pleasure to meet him a couple of times on ALOOG-0 and Chicago GT2 24/7 servers and those were very good races

Yeah I didn't say he cheats. It was a practice season and he chased me on the last half of a hotlap. The only thing he said "nice" after the lap is over. Then he said "sorry no English" when I write something about setups... He was driving clean and insanely fast. I also heard his story from other people that he was kicked out from some servers because they thought he is cheating. :D That's why I quoted manthey's message.

  10. Well i see there's a bigger group of your opinion.
Guess i just have to live with i'm a rammer/cheater/wrecker/idiot because i also enjoy play CS sometimes.

But this is one of the great things about the forum, to get an insight of what other members think of different things. :)

... or you start reading. What I said is that there is a high probability that the wreckers have many hours in shooters as well. Nobody says the other way round is true.

  12. .......
If you can show me some actual stats that backs up your conclusion is right, i would appreciate it. Other than that, it's an empty statement.
I might got a wrong understanding, but people on this forum seems to have some sort of hate (looking for a less abusive word) against CS and BF.

It might be because shooting and driving is two very different things, and this forum is about driving/racing for obvious reasons.

When English not is your main language, and you got reading disorder at the same time, it can sometimes be tough to understand each other.
Black words on white background with no voice behind do not make is easier.

Cheaters are everywhere, in digital and in real world. When you play with rules they play acordinhly to only one - win at all cost. Let them win and let them go home. This is only game.

In my opinion, @1:52 the first move of the black car (to the left) was legal and I can't see how this can be viewed as blocking, the other car still had the whole right side of the track was too far behind and didn't even have to lift to avoid the contact, but the second one (to the right) was sure against the rules

First move of the black car did not force the blue car to brake. The black car did choose the line it wants to defend.
Second move of the black car caused the blue car to brake to avoid a collision, that is the blocking move.

I invite you to talk about that in the minorating.com (drivers thread), as it is starting to leave the topic in here.

Just to make some bad excuses, I'm not the only one who (was) in doubt of the overtake situation..

    http://sports.stackexchange.com/que...-how-do-passing-rules-apply-to-this-situation

Since it's almost impossible to see if you have overtaken a car or not (specially in corners) it could be great with some kind of indication in the game?
Eg. add some kind of indication to the "red arrows" that shows where other cars are placed.

@Lord Kunos @Michael Hornbuckle @dmitryos I promise never to do that again, come back to online racing please
    :(

If only there was somebody helping mp racing so much to make an app to help with this, also make another app to rate drivers and allow filters for admins to clean up servers as much as possible.

Oh yea we have @Minolin with the awesome helicorsa app that does all you need for visibility of those around you, he is also the guy that made minorating so we have both of these already. :D

  20. I have just started racing online again, Michael.....so you can give that "hit me" target sticker back if you want ;)
