Career mode

Very dissapointing, Career just seems to be a number of short challenges (short races and time attack) that you unlock to move onto the next one. Races seem to be 3 or 4 laps, no practice or qualifying and you allways start in last position. Lame.

I don't know if it needs saying but I'd rather have this type of 'career' than "set up your own championship where the points mean nothing and you can drive any car"

 

I think you need to get to the intermediate level to acces the championships

 

Gran Turismo Career seems to be the best in buisness, so makes sense to emulate it - minus the dredfully slow AI that would wait for you no matter what. So, as we were promised "family feel career". The only thing that is lacking from such career are unlocks. I think Kunos should leave all cars open, but make player unlock skins for cars and maybe introduce some more cosmetic upgrades like wheel rims. Gran turismo without unlocks- not enough incentive to keep playing, and making people unlock cars would result in uproar (rightly so) in a sim community. But skins and the like could be a happy medium.

 

My only issue with the carrer is, from what i've played, the races are really short. I'm not a skilled racing players (i'm kind of starting to play sim racings) and 3 laps a rac eto go from last to 1st seems kind of impossible, at least for me. But idk, could it be me since i'm playing with Xbox controller and assists on "Gamer" (With full mechanic damage).

 

yeah nice interface but feels a little dry... no celebration music or noises for winning, some sort of splash is needed makes me feel good

 

I'm having a real problem with controller too.

 

I like the idea of progessing through lower cars but what I dont like is starting from last place and having to barge your way through within the space of 3 laps. Very arcadey. Maybe the later career has longer races with qualifying etc? If the whole thing is 3-4 lap races most people will complete it within a mater of hours.

 

I managed 5th in the Abarth 500.

The controller isn't helping.

Then alt-F4 in disgust.

There is a saying, "it was the icing on the cake". We have a great cake, just no icing yet.

 

some menu music that is not terrible would be really nice, at least in the campain. its painfully silent.
Top gear commentator that read the descriptions would be awesome too I wonder what that costs ^^

i got gold in the first challenge and then went LAST against AI.. its so bad its funny again.

but to be honest, i rather have more cars and even greater physics than a better campain ^^ because that is why we bought the game in the first place. And that will be the reason others buy it.

i wouldn't cost them anything if they added custom championship.... and since the game is supposed to be fully moddable i wonder if we can create a championship somehow?

 

For now the career mode is get to know the cars. I'm fine with that and I really enjoy driving it. AI seems much better and it can be very challenging.
With the Trofeo Cup in the 2-11you get the first championship. But I don't know if there is a qualy or not, most likely it's not even included in career.

 

Same here, gold in challenge and last in the race.

 

I'm actually beginning to enjoy the career mode after passing the first stage. I think consistency, knowing the cars and track is key.

 

is there a way to set the difficulty? a career mode is supposed to be easy in the beginning..
