1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Do Super-Cars Really Understeer This Much?

why must all the cars handle the same, this definitly isnt the case in the real world

I don't think anyone said they should. I'm still pretty sure the real 458 doesn't feel the same as in AC atm. Maybe full on Nanny mode but not on race mode.

Again this isn't something that I find with the 458. It's one of the few cars excluding the Lotus's that I can balance on the throttle round corners. Horses for courses maybe.

But have you driven a 458? surely you can only speculate? (to above post)

Again were back to a developer pleasing people who are inexperienced in a certain car because they "think" its not as they expect it.. If you say they have nailed the mclaren why would they get the 458 so far off?

This is a good point MsportDAN (it's not often I agree with you :p) and I prefer to think AC is teaching me how a car handles not the other way around.
Sure Kunos will make mistakes but unless someone has driven lots of laps in the exact same car on the same track in the same weather conditions and in the same manner (as fast as possible), I wouldn't say they are qualified to compare.
I know that makes me look like a fanboy but Kunos has access to more car telemetry data than me and I suspect most people on this forum who say 'it doesn't feel right'.

my post was more directed to the guy (pablo) you are in debate with bigbaw, but thank you for the honesty ... :) he seems like the ultimate pc sim elitist, in that hes mastered a few cars and other sims, so he should master them all in other sims to.. Sorry its not that simple, and the fact that AC have managed the cars, that people have differing opinions on their favourite, surely indicates they have something right. i for one really enjoyed the mclaren took me whole 45 mins to study its mechanics but by the end i was rewarded with a great experience. WHo wants every car to be driven easily by every tom DICK n harry.

I used to be like, have that understanding with old f1 games, oh theyre too easy to drive oh theyre to this and that. But the pure fact ive never driven a f1 car let alone one at speed, who am i to comment. This has taught me, that let the guys with the tech and the data deal with handling.. unless something is a obvious glitch.

So let me comment on ai behaviour or gfx or menus thats where the buck ends for me lol I even thought the p4/5 was off but having driven the other cars, im sure its a figment of my old imagination coming back lol

I've driven a 458 stock and a 430 GTC. They're different cars, I know, but it's interesting how they can be different. 430 GTC has a pure racing brake system, as gearbox and many other things I'm not going to teach..! but it brakes astonishingly..initially I absolutely didn't expect how much strong they would be (I've driven karts and some rally cars, such as clio wrc and polo, but not as much powerfull). It is incredible where you can brake, totally inside the apex. as Chris Harris would say.."Carbon Dreams"..! Then I've noticed somthing..turning around S Schumacher (I was in Enna-Pergusa track), the car was totally stucked to the tarmac. Then, I've tryed 458. Initially it was like driving on the butter using my feet for brake. I must brake 50-60m before and the rear of the car wanted to go away about anythime I try to do some very quick turn.
Finally: they are several different cars. The first for TIME..the second..to ENJOY and, possibly, to destroy tyres as much as you can..! I must say Kunos has done a reasonably "COPY" of 458. It feels like it, it goes like it. IT IS like it for the 99%. The 1% it losts is only for one thing: g-force experience.

I have found this in a few cars. At first the 458, feels like it has too much understeer compared to YouTube videos.

I thought it was Assetto Corsa in general but then the 599 and BMW E30 for instance have a nice sharp turn in with little understeer.

Then tried the new GTE and 1M today and both understeer like crazy.

Very odd. Some cars understeer out of character but some are o.k.

  9. If you think the 1M understeers I'm not going to say you're doing it wrong, but you are doing it a hell of alot different than I am. I'm finding the car to be amazingly neutral with oversteer a stab of the throttle away.
I think the 458 has far less understeer than it had for me last week; I am having to brake a couple car lengths earlier now and am running a little slower than I was last week.

The GTE understeered like crazy for me so I am probably overdriving the crap out of it...Only made a couple laps, said screw it, and jumped back into the 1-Series.

I'm not saying you can't tip these cars into oversteer, the 1M is very good on the power and you can hold a slide easily.

It's just that initial turn, with the weight on the front is still understeer's like crazy.

Ok, some noob 2cents here... I've never driven a race car in real life, and AC is the first sim I've gotten into in a long time (since GPL). So not really having a frame of reference, I got used to the cars in AC and to me they feel just right, with cars offering mixes of oversteer and understeer depending on lots of different factors.

Last week I went and got myself an iRacing subscription out of curiosity to try it, and I just can't get on with it at all. In iRacing every car feels like it oversteers *at every opportunity*... It seems you can be just rolling down the road, turn the wheel and as soon as it reaches the limit... oversteer. Even with no throttle and no brake! Is this realistic? I hope not...

The Evora GTE in stock setup has vey low camber value (-0.2 deg). Add some negative inclination for better balance ;).

The 458 is my favorite car in AC. She just feels far more fun to drive than the others. She's a total hoot to mess about in, but an absolute nightmare to go for lap records with.
Braking early and coming off the brakes smoothly, she's sweet and controllable. Come off the brakes too fast, or try to enter a turn too fast, she will violently snap around to bite its tail in the first scenario or carelessly send you under-steering like
crazy into the sand-trap in the latter.
The 458, like most Italians, can be a touch moody and *****y at times. She can bite, frustrate and sometimes downright infuriate you with her shortcomings. But she can also make you feel like a heavenly blessed world-beater of a driver when you do her just right.

Besides, looking and sounding like that, how can one possibly not love her? :D

Car feels pretty similar to the real F458 to me when rear toe is set properly. No road car is going to have infinite front end bite. If you turn the steering wheel at too great a speed, you're just going to wash wide. The problem I think comes from not realizing just how fast you're going when you start to experience oversteer. The other problem is that the toe settings in my opinion are way out on the standard setups. Having massive positive toe at the rear creates chronic understeer.

458 was more stable before 0.3 and it's still a nice car. However if you want to follow Coolio's reference to women then 458 is the *****y next door neighbour and Zonda R is the supermodel with nice personality.
