1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I'm not sticking up for anyone's silly comment or even any of my past silly comments but I'm just curious to know.
Do you think it possible that someone with limited computer skills comes along and buys your software and a wheel. Turns everything on and your software will work 100% the way you have it working in your office at work?

Barring the few people who have more money than brain cells sure, it should work easily. AC is one of the easiest sims to set up and get going. There are literally 3 important sliders to fiddle with and get right, so I have my deepest sympathy towards people who find such a trivial task to be a hurdle because that to me falls under "technologically handicapped" category especially in this day and age. No disrespect intended ofcourse, for it is the truth.

The only reason to go into ini files and all that "advanced ffb fiddling" that I can think of in AC is if you want to use a LUT file or something and even then it is only to replace a 0 with a 1 in notepad... wow such an advanced technique, clearly you need a masters degree in IT to accomplish such a mammoth task. Modern sims are reaching near plug and play levels of convenience, but given that they are sims and a bit more technical by design there will always be some stuff that is/should be left to the preference of the user, in order to tweak and get their hardware to work to their liking which like I said, is not that hard to do in the first place and not some secret black art.

What about people that play it as their first simulator/racing game experience and never set up FFB before?

  6. Those people can run default and will be fine until one of the hardcore community shows them the 'errors' of their ways.

You forgot mods, which I think was some of the problems I have had but the big was Bitdefener.

The latency was so bad AI would punch me through corners and do pit maneuvers on me in the straights because I was out of sync. Touching one was like hitting a building.

My point is someone experiencing this will tend to say some pretty strange things here starting a fight with everyone.

  11. absolutely positive... and I don't even have to think, all I have to do is look at the numbers... we're now over 600K users on the PC, if it was so hard as you make it to be this forum would literally collapse onto itself by the shear number of posts reporting problems.

Mods are mods, you better know what you are doing or read and learn about it before doing it. Still it's unlikely it will change something about the FFB, but it may cause AC to crash for example.

@vegaguy 5555 The thing with people "fighting" with you and treating you like a troll is because you are the only person on this forum who had such ridiculous issues.
No weight transfer in the FFB, Bitdefender doing whatever it was doing and that reinstalling it completely changed AC.

Some people should just get a console and be happy with their plug&play nature.

Like I said, sims are intrinsically more complex than any ordinary game. The fiddling comes with the territory sadly. If you can't handle basic slider tech, then I don't know what to say. Same applies for every game, say if you want to get good at fps titles you gotta work on your sensitivity training with your mouse and get to the best settings where you are most comfortable which allows you to be at your most accurate level of pew-pewing. Sims are no different in my eyes, same philosophy applied to different hardware... you gotta tweak the ff to some extent to get it to work to your preference. If someone really really really doesn't know what to do and are completely lost, then they should IMO ask around, look on the forums, copy someone else's settings and see what it does, try to put some effort into some trial and error is all I can say, Internet is your friend and purposefully staying ignorant when you have the option not to be at your disposal is just sad.

EDIT - "You" here is obviously not you ofcourse, it is an hypothetical clueless new user that I'm referring to, just to make it clear since my english is iffy. :D

  15. I don't know.. I think if somebody is completely lost they should trust the defaults and learn their ways into the software as it is presented first.
The internet, from this point of view, is more an enemy than a friend, the risk to end up in one of the dozens (if not more) charlatans selling magic settings and "guides" with "@103% gain trust me it's a completely different game" is simply too high.

People like their placebo almost as much as they tend to hate default settings. So they wouldn't use default even if it were actually good just because most people are sort of predisposed to saying "ewwwww default". But yes, you do make a very valid point. :p

I for one do not wander far from the base settings when it comes to FFB.
    It's usually 2 clicks here a couple % there.
Mostly the developer did just that, developed a software that does what it was meant to do.
I've been playing yes playing PC car racing games since before SIMRACING became the elitist clickfest it is now.
You know motor city, GPL, F1 challenge 99/01,and all the great mods that sprang from them.
Now guys post outrageous tutorials on how to set up FFB with the first you have to download this and the open that now edit this with this other Blaa blaa blaa.
    It's all just technical masturbation.
Along with the I've log this many in game hours pissing contest probably 75% of it setting up the feedback.
Hey here's an idea lets do the I've logged this many miles in game contest.
Do I have a point, not really it's just that it's minus 30 deg outside and I'm stuck inside my wife doesn't like me to ride my motorcycle when it's below -20

FFB tweaking = technical masturbation. ROFL !! When it comes to Project Cars 2 that'll make everyone ,me included, a right bunch of wa..... :p;).

OT - rF2 not much tweaking for me. Agree with Lord K that the interweb can be a bit of a minefield for info at first. Best advice is the get something you like and stick with it type.

Idk. Calling people "technologically handicapped" for not "getting right" FFB settings doesn't sit right with me. Especially when it's about newcomers as I asked about - nothing do with not being able to learn or solve problems, your sentence came across as if they'd have to know everything from the get-go.

I mean one could be IT professor and still have no experience with racing sims and FFB whatsoever. Still "technologically handicapped"? I'm sure you also had a first time with racing sims, or a first time with any new feature. You learned eventually but surely you weren't handicapped for not knowing at first.

And beyond that... it's interesting that FFB is such a huge topic in the simracing community if that task of getting FFB right is so "trivial".

Sorry if it comes across as picking on you, just not liking that sentence very much.

  20. the point is that there is literally nothing to "get right".

    - Buy AC
    - Download & Install
    - do the very easy (I hope we all agree on that) configuration wizard
    - enjoy

    literally nothing else to do.

If you have "no experience with racing sim" that's what you should do, you shouldn't care about clipping, min forces, LUTs, FOV and all the "nonsense" forums are filled with day and night. All you should do is get on with the defaults and put the hours in to learn software, cars and tracks. With all the content in AC you will have 100h+ of fun before you even need to touch a single FF setting.
