1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Benchmark results, food for thought

So many people use HDR=1 (on) ? For racing ?? (Are you serious ?) :). This is useless for this purpose. It costs so much FPS.., as does refelctions (above static settings).
You can turn on HDR for replays or such to play around, but for else.. .

Everything less than around 100 FPS AVG would be much too less for me, then it already 'stutters' / is not fluend anymore. And so many people could simply reach such FPS just without using this HDR gimmick.. .

Have a look at Michael H.'s results, that I call decent :). And without that HDR of course.. .

  2. Decent? The game looked uglier than rf2 with those settings.

  3. M Waechter

    Decent FPS.. .
HDR off alone does not make it look ugly, just even more real maybe.

But yes "AA:1X AF:0X SHDW:512" indeed looks a bit down-altered. :) You won't lose that much with normal values there and have a better looking of the game.

My first run was as follows, note the CPU usage, this test is with my normal settings of pretty much everything maxed out ... :s

    AC VERSION: 1.3.4 (x64)
    POINTS: 7117
    FPS: AVG=48 MIN=9 MAX=140 VARIANCE=0 CPU=28% (What is going on here I am wondering)

    LOADING TIME: 12s

    WORLD DETAIL: 5 SMOKE:5

And then, I tried a few different approaches trying to match some of the settings I saw here ...

    AC VERSION: 1.3.4 (x64)
    POINTS: 9830
    FPS: AVG=67 MIN=3 MAX=182 VARIANCE=7 CPU=83%

    LOADING TIME: 10s

And then, on a single screen ...

    AC VERSION: 1.3.4 (x64)
    POINTS: 28185
    FPS: AVG=192 MIN=26 MAX=275 VARIANCE=36 CPU=82%

And then same settings as above back up to triple screen res, again note the CPU usage has gone down, this was due to one setting being high quality/detail in mirrors being off ...

    AC VERSION: 1.3.4 (x64)
    POINTS: 13459
    FPS: AVG=91 MIN=26 MAX=207 VARIANCE=5 CPU=68%

And then same as above only with high quality/detail in mirrors being on, realy only seems to effect the cpu usage here, everything else is very comparable to above test ...

I think that this is happening because with these setting you are greatly GPU bound, and that frees resources from the CPU (did that make sense?). I noticed in my benches that when i lower my graphics, the CPU usage goes uphill. I guess lower graphics settings = more FPS = more load for the cpu (with DX12 we all now know the term " overhead", dx11 sucks etc :p ) = more CPU usage

I would not of thought 2 x GTX780Ti's in SLI would make me "greatly GPU bound" tbh ... more testing to be done I guess, I might do the same run and monitor the GPU usage, I have noticed at times the game can be hit and miss with utilizing the total GPU capabilities, maybe an SLI thing though too.

Without HDR you don't get pp effects etc., HDR is pretty great in AC and if you turn off blur and DOF, it's perfect.

Now I am sure there is something up with MAX settings and CPU usage @Ody , I really do not think that this system is anywhere near GPU bound, this system is pretty beasty tbh ... I am now more curious as to what is causing the low CPU usage at max graphics settings ... Hmmmmm!

It reflects the amount of work your CPU is doing as a percentage of total possible usage I believe.

@Ody ... I just ran the same test again whilst monitoring the GPU usage on my G19S LCD Screen using AIDA64 Extreme, what I saw was quite odd ... the GPU usage on both GPU's fluctuates a rather large amount the whole time the benchmark is running. I ran the test twice to be sure what I was seeing and the 2nd time I took this video using my phone during the test

The variance is pretty intense and incredibly fast (might try a few different profiles to see if a can take care of that) but with vsync and a 61 fps frame limiter, the frametimes smooth out very nicely, though both are disabled by the benchmark. The minimum is what I really care about.

Send me a PM if you want TCLF, might have some tips for getting the most out of your CPU.

As someone else said, including core clocks in the log would be nice, along with reflection settings.

    Couple more:
    ---------------
Absolute maximum settings, including max mirrors/reflection/frequency, blur is the only thing not on for this one.

    PP: QLT:5 HDR:1 FXAA:0 GLR:5 DOF:5 RAYS:1 HEAT:1

And absolute minimum settings, aside from resolution. Post processing is disabled:
    AC VERSION: 1.3.4 (x64)
    POINTS: 18029
    FPS: AVG=123 MIN=58 MAX=260 VARIANCE=62 CPU=79%

    WORLD DETAIL: 0 SMOKE:0
    PP: QLT:5 HDR:0 FXAA:0 GLR:5 DOF:5 RAYS:1 HEAT:1

And same thing again at 800x600 equals:

    FPS: AVG=129 MIN=55 MAX=276 VARIANCE=61 CPU=80%

I'm astounded by how little difference in performance some settings make vs. their visual benefit and how I lost a few FPS in minimums with a theoretically purely CPU-bound situation. Regardless, that ~80% constant CPU indicates a higher CPU overclock would be very beneficial.

    Strange stuff!
