1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

458 vs 488 looks

To me it's almost a case of F12 vs F12 TDF. Both the 458 and the standard F12 have those beautiful smooth designs, while the 488 and the TDF take those designs and introduce some aggressiveness.
I personally prefer the 458 and the standard F12, because to me Ferrari is all about that classy design, while the more edgy stuff should be on Lamborghinis.
Am I right in assuming that most people that like the 488 more than the 458 will also prefer the TDF?

There is a difference between the 458 and 488? To me they look exactly the same.

Get some glasses then. These will probably look right at home on you

This is what I was going to say. 458 is smooth and sleek. It's quintessential Ferarri. The 488 is definitely more aggressive looking with the addition of more sharp angles the 458 does not have.

I like both, but I prefer the 458. The 488 seems to be caught somewhere in the middle between smooth/sleek, and aggressive. And, on aggressive styling, I really like most Lamborghini's styling.

Oh come on, it's like two identical twins where one of them has a birthmark. The differences are negligible.

458 -> 488 reminds me a bit of 348 -> F355. Not that much of a difference, but still obvious.

Probably. I like the 458 and F12 better than 488 and TDF.
The TDF ruins the fine lines of the F12 IMO, although I can't say the 488 is bad, just the front I don't like, from windscreen to the back I really like it.

I believe the 458 was a real breakthrough in terms of design not only for ferrari but for entire industry. It was the first car I genuinly felt in love with. It had a very elegant, effortless, yet muscular styling. 488's side intakes however aren't effortless at all. They look like they are forced into the design breaking the wonderful flow of a sideline that the 458 had. I know they were a necessity on a turbocharged car but I expected a bit more magic and less raw functionality from ferrari's design team. I prefer the back of 488 gtb though.

YET YOU ADMIT THERE ARE DIFFERENCES, regardless of how negligible they may seem to people who know jack about cars. And that's really the whole jist of this thread, you see. It's not a "How Negligible Are the Differences Between the 458 and the 488?" thread.

They don't look that different tbh.. both very pretty cars. I mean, obviously I could tell which is which, but don't really have strong opinion about it. I like the classic influence both have, I like some Lambo's too but some of their designs are too extreme. Like Veneno, while it probably is awesome car it looks ridiculous to me... like something Master Chief would drive.

Sarcasm does not seem to be your thing.

This is the 458 vs. 488 thread and my answer was "the same for me" (optically).

But seems I hit a nerve there …

I've highlighted the bits that i don't like on each car from the front. I much prefer the 458 overall, the rear is much nicer to my eye going by the images in the OP and the front of the 488 looks pretty nasty as well with that gaping mouth awkwardly joined at the sides. I agree with others that it looks like a cheap copy of the 458. To me all the creases that find their way into modern cars are a bit uneasy on the eye but the side of the 458 is starting to grow on me, i much prefer it to the same area on the 488 anyway and i'll take the crease down the centre of the bonnet over the big dents in the 488.
458 gets extra brownie points for being naturally aspirated as well :D

No, I'm just being a smartass (which totally is my thing :D). The 458 and 488 are clearly cut from the same cloth, but there are some pretty noticeable differences in body design... but way less noticeable than the differences under the bodywork. I've always loved the 458 styling, it's just simple and perfect... I like the more aggressive front of the 488, but the rest just looks meh.

I pretty much love all supercars equally. Which means it doesn't matter if it's 488 or 458, because both look just uninteresting/unexciting to me. :)

I'm sad that Ferrari doesn't work with Pininfarina anymore. 488 looks like poor man's copy of 458... really really poor stuff from Ferrari...
LaFerrari is still ok, as it looks like bigger, angrier brother of 458... but it still bases on 458's design...

I'm really greatly dissapointed that we don't see Pininfarina badge anymore on Ferrari's bodies. same story with FF and GTC4 Lusso...

I prefer the 488 because of aero efficience.

Well, I guess that's the point of such a car with only 3* existing. At least one of them is owned by a german, so maybe there's a snowballs chance in hell to see it for real.

Yeah I know. But it doesn't strike me as "classy" which an expensive car should do (imo), it's like they overdid it needing to "stand out". But I'm still very interested to drive it, for other reasons.. when it comes to AC, some day.

It's interesting that the 488 GT3 "mouth" still looks more like the 458 road car shape than the newer 488 design.
