GTR 3 announced

If they had WEC theyd show some endurance cars im sure not 2 porsches . Very sad attempt to steal some limelight. And 1 pic lol from onboard , the marketing guy from binsim must be 5 years old .

Since alot of people call pcars2 simcade its possible that it will be on that level at least.

 

Does anyone know a good reason to call this GTR3? What is Binsim thinking?
The folks they aim at don’t know nothing about the GTR heritage, and simracers got repelled by this reference the way it is now...

So without a solid plan for what to do with the game and without a series licence yet they want to release the title for PC and consoles in Q2 2019. I feel like that's not likely to happen.

 

That's what's weird for me too. On the other hand, i know enough franchises, where tey simply slaughtered the name to gain extra sales. Splinter Cell, Thief, Tomb Raider... they all have undergone major changes to the gameplay, or setting. And, you could also argue that nowadays's audience of players know nothing about their heritage.

IMO, though, GTR doesn't even have a big heritage. I mean, it already was pretty niche. No idea why they'd want to create extra sales by holding up a niche franchise, while going more into the arcade direction. As you said, not sure wot they're smoking.

 

Hardcore simmers on PC are a special breed, and a relatively rare animal. They do not compare in numbers to casual gamers, gamers that play occasional titles, and action gamers. The big money is not in these "specialist gamers". On consoles, a much bigger crowd is still quite young, and the much-famed legacy of GTR and GTR2 may not mean as much to them as it means to those of us here who already are a bit older, at least old enough to have played GTR over a decade ago.

Its absolutely possible that a far greater number of such players will not be positively or negatively affected by this PR and advertising. Because it means nothing to them since they are too young. they have less luggage, so to speak.

It is said the most rapidly growing group of gamers now are the so-called silver-gamers: players of age 50 and higher. What should be added to that however is that the overwhelming majprity of these play on mobile devices, and just to kill a little time. So we talk of titles like Candycrush. We talk about games for Android smartphones. Another group that is most unlikely uninterested in the legacy of GTR and GTR2.

If the design is good and the technical execution well, GTR3 might surprise some of us, once it gets released. Whatever it then may be.Becasue we who are now so critical, probably are not the target audience anyway. Nor the majority. Hardcore realism racing is a niche, and thus its inhabitants tend to suffer from tunnel view syndrome.

As a Raceroomer (and Assetto Corsarist), me personally however is exclusively interested in that they get their engine finished so that it can be thrown into Raceroom.

Sometimes plans work, sometimes they don't. If their plan works, we will talk again on the basis of their release at the end of Q2 2019. Unitl then its all hot air moved back and forth while nobody knows anything for real nevertheless casting verdicts of doom and eternal hellfire.

 

Hm...Cause of ACC's focus I was hoping that GTR3 would take a similiar approach like PCars2 or AC contentwise,so a few series and some streetcars - while it would be better vice versa.
I would have expected a reaction from simbin considering the reactions to the latest interview.
Anyway, maybe it will end up well.

@Skybird BTW: Immersive sim is a genre, like Deus Ex or Prey for example, which create a believable environment and a certain freedom how to approach things/having different solutions. Thats at least how I understand it.

 

You shurely have R3E for that, and so are the stated plans.
I personally think the last display from BinSim was a true sign of their desperation. Don’t expect anything from them I say.

 

Lol having read the car crash of a thread over at banned department, I would say BinSim ended up un-announcing everything they had previously deliberately leaked, thereby making a joke of themselves and the RD staff.
If I had anything to do with WEC licensing deal I would tell BinSim to jog on after that debacle, what utter marketing noobs would do such a thing lol.

 

Well, to me the term makes no sense, since any sim, no matter the genre, can be immersive or not. Its a quality of anobject, but the sim is done due to the object, no the adjective describe it. Using the cockpit camera in a race game for exmaple is more immersive than using a chase camera. A flight sim with proper sound files is more immersive than a flgiht sim where planes sound like electric bicycles. A game where I need to travel the open world countryside by foot or horse or whatever, is more immerisve than a game that moves you by teleportation on the map. "Race", "F.giht", "Open world" are the genres here - "immersive" is just an adjective describing some aspects their quality (because you can have technically higly precise training simulators that have no immersiveness/immersion (?!) at all, but they train you nevertheless, and whats more, personal preferences and subjective taste also play into it.

 

I would personally prefer a GT legends 2 then GTR 3, doubt simbin can do much so maybe Kunos. Aris was the head physics guy of the P&G mod, Im sure many of the team would love to do a historic sim with the stuff they learn from ACC.

The question is would it be considered a bit too niche or would the younger generation like to try some racing from pre electronics era in real drivers cars. Would the publisher be ok with a niche series even if historic racing like goodwood festivals are fairly popular.

I bet Simbin don't even have the WEC license, hence why they can't show us anything.

And as it turns out, they'll only keep the "GTR" brand, but develop another casual arcade game.

 

Well, they didn't at the time of the interview, Chris Speed says it right in there.

 

It doesn't appear to be any of the same people that were part of the original Simbin that created GTR2 so ya know.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
