1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I mean he should become official kunos. His work with helicorsa and Minorating alone show his potential and that's without full access to developers and understanding of codebase.

It would really depend where they want Assetto to go. I see it as something where your best modders deserve official support so things like MR and helicorsa can get widespread access to the community.

Anyway, I feel that minolin would 100% add benefit to the team and has the proven work ethic and understanding of what makes Assetto unique

I'm disappointed in Stefano's continued dislike of the "three tracks cuts and then you're penalised" approach to track cut penalties. That's the rule they have in the UK's Motorsports Association, as well as Australia's V8 Supercars. If it's good enough for real life, it's good enough for a sim!

You can't let blatant track cutting go unpenalised, and you can't immediately penalise every cut either, in case someone's had a spin or an accident. Warnings and then a penalty is the only way to do it.

A understand Stefano's approach....think about a race where a driver gets 1 cut-warning during the race and keeps his 2nd cut for the last corner and the win without being penalised

I think this is his only point, and the leagues you mentioned would for sure give a penalty for taking huge advantage of deliberate cutting even if it's the first attempt?

This is why I like stefanos idea of calculating the penalty based on the delta. It's the middle ground.

You have to be able to go off track without getting a penalty as sometimes it is completely necessary to avoid contact, but at the same time you should have to lift to avoid advantage.

Middle ground? No, it's ultimate. The perfect way, with the little catch that it is so complicated to start out with

    The UK MSA rules:

In races, a rising scale of penalties will be applied according to the number of times a competitor is reported to have exceeded the track limits, as follows:

 Second report : Black & white warning flag
 Next report: Five-second time penalty
 Next report: Ten-second time penalty
     Next report: Drive-through penalty
     Next report: Black flag.

First penalty is on the third warning.

You are comparing apples and oranges.
The real situation you got money, sponsor, organizers, teams and careers involved. If someone does a "final lap smart *** move" he will get penalized extraordinarily by the organization or a team will ask to control the situation or he will suffer some career problem in the long run.

In simulation, when you go to a pickup race, nobody knows who you are, and you probably won't meet other racers again online and generally... "who cares". So the software has to protect the others. If you are in a well organized league, then you have again the organizers looking for bad moves and you could safely close the penalties.

Implementation of a "cleanliness"-rating or something similar, which records those big jumps in delta (cuts) would be cool. If the culprit doesn't slow down to compensate the time gained before end of a lap, it's marked in his rating. In this way we get the "career" element involved in the online side of the game.

I like how the v7 tires are working. I hope the v10 tires continue in the right direction. Please not return to the v5 ;)

  14. I was under the impression that Stefano mentioned something in the latest Live Stream about "you have to think of the experience for the majority of players, and not what a handful of wreckers or idiots can do to ruin a race"? If that's the case, then "three cuts and a drive through/Stop Go" penalty would seem to be preferable to the current "slow down" penalty.

The problem is that a one guy can affect the experience of 23 others, quite a leverage.

Imagine you have a nice race as usual, but there is one guy in the back that will flatout cut Monza T1 in the last 3 laps. Always. Because the rules (technically) allow him to do so.
You wouldn't come to the forum and complain about him?

It's even worse - to stay competative, more and more people would start to do the same. Bad incenctive.
Have to admit that currently you probably could actually win time by cutting despite the penalty if you really want to, but there's a difference in the feedback: Today you receive "that was not ok, slow down" instead "that's your first of 3 warnings (2 left)"

  16. IMO its quite easy to solve the issue. Its all in the surfaces. For example, in track making, one could assign a surface to a sensitive track part that if touched, gives a penalty straight away, while other parts, like usually the slippery outside of a turn will give nothing, and others not so sensitive would allow the server rules to apply, like 1, 2 or three wheels to cut.

  17. Actually, I wouldn't. I would just mention the words "pathetic" and "laughable" a few times during a conversation with my monitor ;) Seriously, the only clowns that really annoy me are the ones that deliberately hit me off the track.

No it isn't... Just take the example from @Minolin with Monza. Everyone would say yeah that's a clear penalty, but sometimes you are forced to "cut" there because of a big T1 accident. In a league race you would take this runoff area and sort yourself in without gaining an advantage (because most leagues run without penalties) and at public you are punished because of avoiding a accident. You can spent hours of work for more detailed penalty zones, but in the end you always need to find a compromise to get a system which can't be abused.

  19. Aris, as you said in pickup races there isn't really anything important to win or loose so if someone is a smartass and tries to cheat cutting track, who cares? Let him win because others know who are their real oponents.
If someone isn't serious enought to race clean, there isn't anything you can do to 100% prevent that. He can do a late brake aka Rosberg and ruin others race or even worst. I think you guys shouldn't focus on preventing these situation at expense of settings that could bring a little more of realism to Assetto.
Doing that you are not protecting fair pilots but penalizing them because of bad people.
We already have tools for hosts to control these behaviours and to me these are the best options to do that.

I agree. I said this 2 years back, but I think its still valid. The best solution would be to set up pre-defined track cut zones, like T1 at Monza. The entire middle triangular grass section there would be one big cut "zone", however the gravel trap off to the right wouldn't be. The same applies to the tarmac section, with the bollards. That would all be parts of the cut zone. What you do once the car is in that zone would depend on what input the driver is performing at the time. Are they full throttle? If so, black flag. Are they coasting through off the gas = apply 10 second penalty, are they spinning or on the brakes hard = no penalty.
