The Challenge.
Car: Porsche 962 C Short Tail
Track: Nordschleife

Stefan Bellof set the record at 6:11.13 in a Porsche 956 in 1983. It will probably never be beaten. There are a lot of tributes to him on the internet, and also a lot of analysis of what happened at Eau Rouge to tragically end his life.

We can do our own small tribute here on Assetto Corsa. The 962 is the closest we have to the 956, and the short tail was used at the Nurburgring.

Here's how not to do it. Coincidentally, it's the same time as the other video - 6:41.However, Bell was taking it easy for the camera. I am trying as hard as I can.



The Rules.
Mode: Hotlap
Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

Sunday December 3rd - 22:00 GMT

How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Porsche 962 C short tail and head to Nordschleife . Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier.

A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leader board but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Amazing coincidence,yesterday i thought about this and did a group c race around the nords with the 962 short.gave up after a couple of crashes considering previous experiences,i think i will do something like 6.50.just 40seconds off real pace,not that bad (cries in the corner due to lack of skills )

 

I’d be over the moon with a 6:50 , I don’t think I’ve ever cracked a 7:50... in anything?

Cool. When i'll be back home by the end of the week, i'll give it a go.

I use to do this combo a few month ago as it is legendary. Ended up around 6:26 or 23 by then. With just a few attempts

 

This car is fast on this track and my brain is to slow at the moment god dammit .
But ...... 1 day we will see the light at the end of the lap
Now ...... let us crash a little bit more on the Nordschleife .

 

I’ve done this car and track combo before, but it’s been so long that I need some more practice before I feel confident sharing a lap time

My old best was somewhere around 6:35 - 6:40 with my Ps4 controller, but that took a long time to achieve. Best I did today was a 6:51. I downloaded a Stefan Bellof livery for good luck though, hopefully it will help!

Nordschleife, nothing will make you as angry as going wide in the last turn to make the lap invalid. (especially since it was a 6:26 already on M tyres)

Pretty happy with that since i'm using a gamepad and not a wheel, I think the Stefan Bellof livery helped give me some extra motivation too. I'll definitely have another crack at some laps after people post some videos or tips. I'm sure we'll see the usual PC aliens drop into the 6:10's eventually...
