Generic Weekly Hotlap #6 - Art and Science

Actually I just went home for lunch for a quick run on this challenge and on mine default seems to be off. Pressing the button I assigned to TC goes 1>2>3>4>off

EDIT: Unless pressing the first button just brings up what you are currently on rather than progressing it one level of course.

 

I come to work every morning and get on here and read the posts since I last left it and am always left wanting to get on and run some laps lol Anyway, today I went home for lunch just so I could jump on and get in some track time to see what sort of improvement I could find on my previous 1:54.278. After two aborted laps I banged in a 1:50.4 which left me close to that sub 1:50 time I was looking at before this challenge ends. A few laps later and there it was.. 1:49.6 followed quickly by a 1:49.118 and then with time running out before heading back to work a 1:48.2 Very happy with myself I opted for one more lap… everything clean, no mistakes and bingo.. another 6/tenths off for a 1:47.607. Couldn’t be happier.. over 6.5 seconds dropped in 20-25 laps. Back at work and feeling good.. then I look at the leaderboard and see that it’s only bumped me up 5 places lol . Still, I can live with that and puts me in range of the midfield and maybe even the top 15 if I can find the time for another session before close of play


Loving this challenge btw.. will be looking to take part in them from this point on time permitting.

 

Been so long since I drove this thing I forgot just what a beast it is.

It easy enough to test if it's off, when you first load the track, jump in the car and nail the throttle, it it spits you off in a blaze of tyre smoke the system is off! If nothing really happens and the car feels like it is being choked, (no flair of revs from wheel spin) it is on.

It has to be the first time after loading, it remembers the setting from then on.

@ Gravektrap you got me hooked with the weekly challenges.
Also the first time that I tried to improve a setup and it seems that it worked.

I have less turn in understeer with this setup and can hit the corner apex way easier.

I think those two are in various pre order bonus packs The one car I have looked at so far on a variation of Nurburgring is 4wd though...

I know GT3 is popular but we have been there already and it is a little too soon to return, GT2/GTE could be an option soon

Got within a hundredth of that time 3 laps in a row. Thats what I call consistency lol.

Really wish we could all join a race together, maybe at 9 on the Sunday. Would be a nice way to finish the challenge off each week and I've been so obsessed with this challenge I've barely been racing!

Looks like we have a fight on for the top spot, but what really makes me smile is the depth of the field and that everyone can pick their own battles!

Please remember to post your platform, I can distinguish between console and PC, but Xbox and PS4 is more difficult, maybe I should just use console and PC instead...

Its been a long day, I am somewhat sleepy so could well of made mistakes, if you spot something please let me know and I will get it fixed as soon as possible!

Classic touring car for next week or some sort of race car, can't say I'm not enjoying this weeks challenge it's great, but those road cars are a pain to drive imo!

Quick question for you guys...

I've been going down to first gear for a couple of the slower corners on the track (turn 1 and the chicane after the back straight) and after watching some of the videos posted I've noticed the fast guys aren't doing this.

My understanding was that you should always shift down to the lowest possible gear for maximum acceleration out of the corner but I guess this isn't true?

I'm dying to jump back on and see if I can gain time by keeping it in second but its far too late

Any help would be much appreciated guys, cheers.
