1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Look at my laptop, not even top notch, specs (below) and have a look at some vids I made (link also below). It is not bad at all at the current stage.

Having a top hardware, is not everything. Maybe people have to start think that problem can be from theirs side, as there's a lot of other have no issues with the current develop state.
Just go to y..tube and see some ACC videos.
The Sim is at early access stage, there are a lot of features and content to come, but I am wondering if is there another released racing sim with this level of immersion, the cars fidelity, the circuits, the weather, day and night cycle, the level of support from the real thing.

i find the game so far decent in terms of ffb and graphics and quite boring at the same time.
I really hope that add features that make the game more immersive.

  4. Is the BMW 1 solid second faster than the Lamborghini at the nurburgring or it's me because I'm used to German Hearse? :D

  5. I'm predicting when leaderboards come alive, the gap between Aliens and mere mortals is going to huge on Paul Ricard.

I've previously disliked the track (mod in AC1) mainly due to the blue lines making it really hard to learn. Now I've spent a bit of time on 0.3 on it with the Beamer - absolutely loving it, super challenging track. You can see how many lines are not obvious and being smooth/line choice gains massive times.

If you're one of those ones who've skipped past Paul Ricard after a handful of laps I'd say give it a good 30mins or so to learn the corners and then start pushing. You might be surprised...

Well I'm one with performance problems. With 20 cars I get 30~50fps, no matter the graphic settings(FX8350 and 1070@1080p). Other games I have no problems at all, like Forza 7 where I can run at 4k with everything maxed(except msaa which I can set to 2x) and it maintains 60fps with 24 cars.

And to show how optimization is REALLY important. Forza Horizon 3 used to run at 40~50 fps at 1080p for almost everyone. After a serious optimization patch, I can now run at 4k with everything maxed at 60 fps.

I'm really worried about performance, not gonna lie. I just wish we had any info about it, you guys think we have a lot of time left when we actually don't, 4~5 months is not that much for development. Game is great, I love playing it, but a serious performance update is required.

Your CPU is putting it politely VERY average, games like Forza don't rely very heavily on the CPU as they relatively speaking process next to no physics. Sim's on the other hand tend to be very CPU heavy, not really any way around that, the more complex the simulation is the more CPU it will need sadly

  8. Without leaderboards I cannot compare since it's the first time I put my wheels on the Paul Ricard.
What time can be considered at least acceptable? Right now with the BMW I'm driving at 1.55 low

I know my cpu is not great, but it is more than enough to run any games at 1080p(and it's, since this is the only game that actually have problems). Other racing games like RaceRoom, rF2 and F1 doesn't lag. So yea, that's not a valid reason for it to lag that much.

And still using my previous Forza example, the update launched was a better CPU optimization. You can't expect people to get top of the line cpus in order to play a game, this is not Crysis...

  10. Well as you said as example Forza received an update. This is still in early access. Usually optimization comes after things work as intended.
As road map the focus now is on multiplayer, very basic. Doesn't work :p
So I suppose the resources now are on the multiplayer ;)

I know, and I'm fine with that. I just wish they said anything about this topic, a simple recognition would give some relief for those suffering this problem.

Your cpu is slow. Try to upgrade to a ryzen 2600.

My myth-busting tests suggested it's not the physics (or AI) which taxes the CPU, but simply rendering the other cars.

Check it yourself by setting the visible opponents to minimum with a full grid. I think you'll see higher framerates than you expect.

I also sorted out my stutter problem, it was related to my system ssd saying goodbye. noticed other strange behaviour later. Managed to clone it to a new one the 3rd time i tried (at about 3 am. i just can't oversleep such things ).

Anyway, now acc seems to work as fluid as i expect it to be. Problem was my system.

Just a heads up you can actually check where your cpu spends its time on the game using visual studio.

Which setting to lower then? For me it runs quite good with my current settings. Just want to check the difference.

There is a setting "visible opponents" , you can raise or decrease.

Ok. But how does this work together with the number of cars you can select on the grid? If you select 15 on the grid and you select visible components 10. You see just 10 opponents?

  19. Exactly. The 10 nearest cars to you are visible.

True, but when I compare ACC to PC2 (especially in VR) I still find it very impressive how they could make it possible that in PC2 I can drive in rain/snow at day/night with full grid at 90 FPS in VR and the graphics look clear/good.

Being a Kunos fanboy from the first hour I want to have the same with ACC!

I know the physics in ACC are a bit better than in PC2 but they are not really BAD in PC2 (it‘s not a Mario Kart physics engine!).

I think PC2 can also be called SIMcade but the difference is maybe that ACC uses the same complex physics the player has for all the AI-cars! So this multiplies the CPU-usage! But this has a second disadvantage: they must invest even more CPU-power just to learn the AI how to handle those complex car-physics. The AI should learn how to behave during a race (not divebomb, not cue up, how to overtake/defend); but in ACC they have to learn first how to even drive a car!! Like a human!

That’s nice, but we don’t have the hardware for this at the moment (at least not in VR).

And the funny thing is: the AI doesn‘t even appreciate the high-sophisticated car-physics they got. They don‘t say, like us human beings: „ Wow, that car feels realistic! A bit too much throttle and the car tends to spin!“.

So, I personally would appreciate an option to turn that off in order to maybe solve the performance problem and select the option „Use simplified physics for AI“. Not much different to graphics-options where we can also choose „Use simplified graphics“ (and make it therefore look more unrealistic but easier for our hardware).

I know, someone could say „but that’s the unique selling point of AC/ACC“. Not so for me. For me it‘s the incredible driving feeling that I (me myself, the human being!) get in AC/ACC and I give a damn how hard an AI opponent has to fight with the car...

Perhaps I‘m wrong and Kunos can squeeze out a lot more performance from the UE4-engine to make full races in rain in VR possible but if the problem is really the „AI-physics“ then...

Ah, forget it, Kunos will do it!
