That is true if we are talking about Vanilla physics but it's not like that anymore. Rallying on tarmac is much more satisfying than rallying on tarmac in AC. And I couldn't drive a single stage before. I think Codemasters have done the best drive train model in the whole sim genre and it really makes driving so much more dynamic.

 

But it still sucks - sth between vanilla and this mod would be very good IMHO - I was rallying on amateur cars with amateur tyres and grip was much better than on this mod in WRC car on proffesional tyres additonally FFB levels should be corrected - very strong on tarmac, nothing on gravel. Author has possibility to do sth so good as NGP for Burns Rally but still there is much work to do... BTW tarmac in AC is unbeatable

 

Just got into Dirt Rally, in lieu of AC having any loose surface action (AC 2? We can hope at least).

Anyone got any good mod recommendations for a new player?

Interested in cars and tracks, but only ones that are as good as official content if possible.

 

There is no cars or track mod for dirt rally.. Only skin mod, weather mod ecc. But the most important is the physics mod.. The best one is the "alternate mod 0.8" from exbagboy.. If you read previous page you have plenty of details(-:

Awesome mod for AC. I'm not into Hillclimb/gravelstage stuff in AC sorry but this Delta S4 is a MASTERPIECE.
One of my icons of my puberty years. I adore that car like nothing else!

Re the RL Delta S4, anyone else find it really understeery?

Might be me not setting it up properly but I find it understeers a lot and has a really large turning circle.

Trying to get it round the hairpins on Trento is really not easy at all.

Model looks good though.

 

This video shows all. I would say ”as in real life”.

 

It makes some strange things which I'd like to showcase on a video but the thread at RaceDepartment was locked. There's something weird going on with the drivetrain (I guess) for sure. The car is brilliant at turn-in but is so frustrating on the exit of a corner.

 

It's correct that like the Quattro the car didn't have a handbrake right? (Because of the diff locking all four wheels).

A handbrake would make hairpins easier

 

Yeah, no handbrake and a noticeably big turning circle.

 

I was hoping/expecting it to be super-nimble around tight corners.

Guess I should have done more research :-/

 

The car is from the era when 4WD drivetrain was only used on tractors.

 

Guys I want to tell you a secret, and if this info I'm posting is inappropriate, I will delete it asap or the mods will delete it.

I have the S4 too and I wanted it to be a tad poweroversteery, it now(the current S4 from RL) behaves(as stated) almost as an FWD out of corners...

So I was in that closed RD thread and I wrote a PM to one of the posters I had a solution:

The S4 is not really poweroversteery as you(and me too) might wish. It's a balance between lift throttle oversteer and finely adjusting the throttle to keep it there, 9 out of 10 times it pulls itself straight like its layout just is.
BUT I have my own S4 'EVO'
If you have/download this Car Tuner:

And search for the stock AC Audi S1 Rallycar to 'tune', imho this car has real power oversteer stock setup when flooring it(out of the bends)
Call that car 'test' (name).
Search in advanced search for the drivetrain file.

Then shut that one off and goto the Delta S4.
Give the tune a name.

---> In that now open space you paste the Audi diff awd text.

It's autosaving but just save it anyway:
Go to AC and play.
(Or Content Manager is easier)

The car will behave like the S1 Quattro with power oversteer.
