An open letter to ac team

Yes, I think some sort of Driving School would be a good thing to have, especially with the large audience that AC is receiving. Not a priority perhaps, but there you go.

 

As some guys have already pointed out, there is no substitute for track time. You may not know a particular track at all when you first load it (Magione was one such track for me), but you learn where to brake and how to take particular corners simply by trial and error. Magione seemed tough at first because of all the tight corners, but it didn't take me long to work it out. Now I rather like it!

 

The Career with V1.0 should include a driving school.
This need to be solved before joining MP Sessions.

 

Remember the mantra from the motorcycle community, "practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect". You can practice all you want, but if you practice while cultivating bad habits, you will always drive like that. Sure, some people here are children of the Alien gods, but most people need proper instruction because they were not born with the skill/knowledge. It will, in the long run, benefit us all as we'll have less newbies ramming others because "the guy in front of me is too slow!" I think stopping without ABS to get gold was the hardest test in GT.

 

Agree fully with the OP. I remember the first time I played any sim racing was on GTR2 and I loved that Driving School feature. If AC could do something similar then I'd be a happy bunny indeed.

 

But see that's the thing. Not everyone knows how to approach corners or get the "feel" for braking or adapt to new racing lines. So they could be trying different tracks over and over again and still don't "get it". Like someone else said, there's no point in mindless and endless practice if you're not really sure what you're doing. Like in everything you kind of need to get the fundamentals right before you're able to just load a track and adapt to it by doing a few laps.

 

I still have problems taking corners at the correct speeds (or perhaps more importantly, taking them in such a way that I can get the power down early for the next straight), and I have been sim racing in GT Legends, GTR2 and P&G for the past seven years. I can feel really slow through some corners in AC, but experience has (eventually) taught me to trust myself in this department. I am (finally) learning to slow down enough on the approach to tight corners so that I negotiate them correctly, rather than struggling to avoid sliding off into the sand because I am going too fast! As for approaching corners on the correct line, well.....that's another story

 

Some offtopic question: Does anyone know how to put the topic in the "Suggestions" subsection (as it is probably a better place for such discussion)? Shall I use the "Report" feature?

 

I also learned the basics in simracing with GTR2 and I really appreciated the driving school back in the days.
