1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

+1 for "cars in AC have too much lock". That's a good one.

  2. The part that always puzzled me about those monitor observations was that the car looked like it was hitting a "barrier" of sorts, where it refused to spin out any further. Now, this may have been simply due to the aforementioned "flooring the throttle" to correct the slide, but I remain sceptical. I have seen this "technique" (for want of a better term) performed by idiots who try to drift on public servers, and the recovery rate just seems way too high to me. There is a point where no amount of wheel lock or throttle input will stop a car from spinning, but the "recovery to spin out" ratio (again, for want of a better term) seems to be biased in favour of the former for even Bozo the Clown on a day out.

It's just possible that this may also be an illusion caused by the FOV that I am using, so that's my escape clause :D

What's is too much lock "whatever" doing in facebook thread?

That "barrier" of yours is just probably the state where rotation speed slows down and and the direction of the rotation acceleration stays the same. It's all because wide rear tyres are scrubbing the road in 90 degrees angle and generating a lot of momentum and front tyres are partially spinning in the direction of movement (full counter-steer). If a car has good balance when sideways, it's possible to "drift" even greater than 90 degree angle and still end up facing the right direction. However, usually racing cars with slick tyres aren't build for this and the car is too sensitive to hold in a slide.

Edit. Yeah, as Exos71 said we should change the thread because this is way too offtopic right now..

nothing to do with lock , its a physics issue and one i would say that effects the ai too

AI has nothing to do with this... AI probably gets "supergrip" when it is in deep ****.

And AI use stability control AFAIK = massive angle recoveries.

PRC fan.. nah just a fan of realism. Theres a point in AC handling that isn't realistic, not saying its totally arcade am i? no jut a part of it at extreme circumstances where the engine just "says no"

Is it a deal breaker..no. is the game still fun.. yes.

The engine says no because you say so without providing any hard evidence? People are so quick to jump to conclusions just with subjective, feeling-based thoughts nowadays. And when they do they can't back down because the would admit being wrong/having overreacted/etc.... Not only in simracing but in all society. See Trump for example, and other populists.

And of course there is a point where the handling is not realistic. It's just a model, and all models are wrong.

I really wonder sometimes, where do all these pointless conversations come from, and not only with AC. When was thinking replaced with feeling as a seed for truth?

Afaik they don't. They just have the ability to react instantaneously to any given situation, thus being able to catch everything. Even when purposely driven off track.
You guys read to much PRC :D

I don`t think in case of AI it is physics bug .. just nonhuman like ractions of AI, like there is no delay between things happening, noticing that it happends and reaction to correct it .. so it looks bit weird and comicaly

  15. AI have "supergrip-mode" which will kick in on some places but doesn't affect their driving in general. But just like you said it doesn't use TC or ABS.

  18. actually they do. They use similar code for abs and tc but theirs is better because it runs at full physics rate. They also turn on stability control to dampen the yaw rotation.

I dunno, I'm having no trouble spinning cars in AC on purpose (and fairly often by accident as well). This covers GT cars too if TC is off.

As to full lock flooring not producing oversteer. I dunno... I own RWD cars for a couple years now, without countersteering there is no oversteer unless you also use a lot of weight shifting or weight momentum. Front looses grip and it just plows.

  20. Oh crap. Sorry for the disinformation then. :)

But am I right they have "exaggerated lateral grip-mode" for keeping the car stable during braking?
