1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Do you think there's a advantage in Assetto Corsa with Hyper threading. 100.00 dollar difference in price. Both chips overclock to close to the same. Any links to benchmarks with the two. Any thoughts welcome , thanks

For Assetto Corsa, I think go with the i5. I only got the i7 because of Arma3. Put that extra $100 into a fund for extra monitors or Rift.

I wouldn't expect any gain with HT, better overclock the **** out of the i5. But those refresh-haswells aren't known to have very much potential afaik.

The 4790 is obviously the better CPU, but as mentioned above, an i5 will do and the money saved can go to better use elsewhere on a rig :)

Yeah ac doesn't use any hyper threading. It Barley uses all of the stock cores.

Was it worth it for arma3?

Obviously i can't speak for th guy, but i would imagine so, as ARMA is quite heavily CPU oriented, at least on the server side anyways.

i7 will help with stuff like conveting films for dvd that actively max out the cores. If you do a lot of this, choose an i7.

i5 is the gaming choice, if you are into OCing and like to mess with your OC repeatedly looking for that magic combination then go 4670k and delid it. If you just want to set a factory or standard OC and leave it forever, take the 4690k.

    I hope so. :D Went from a Q8200...
Arma3 can use more than 4 cores, hyperthread or not. I set up a lot of large battles, so lots of AI and trajectory computations going on.
Also BI is often making game engine updates to utilize more CPU features.

  12. My i5 4690k is overclocked up to 4.6Ghz, and it seems to be running perfectly fine. I have a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO bolted to it.

So with an OC i5 can you run a full grid of AI ?

    Same here with 4690 non-K.

I'm curious what is the performance advantage you gained in AC from stock to OC. How much fps did you gain?

I can run a full grid with my i5 2550k stock 3 year old CPU. No CPU warning, no issues at all...

My 4790K is 4ghz stock, and boosts to 4.4ghz I've find no need to overclock it. ;)

Then why do you buy a expensive K version and Z97 board in the first place? o_O

    money left to burn...

Thanks for all the thoughts and information everyone, much appreciated. I'm going with the i5 4690. Now I have to decide on a graphics card. Any thoughts on the 970 with the memory only being 3.5 gs ?

The K version has the highest stock clock speed, the non K version is slower.

That's why I bough my K version, for the stock speed only. I consider OC'ing CPUs unnecessary for gaming.
It's still the same fast card as before the memory issue... Nothing changed as far as performance goes.
