1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Ferrari DLC & 1.15 - Discuss Away

Discussion in 'Chit Chat Room' started by Schnipp, Sep 19, 2017.

  1. Yep, seems like it, or at least the difference is minimal.

Looking the numbers Kunos use for vintage tyres, my calcs show it should make zero difference, though the tyre tester app shows a very small difference - I think when it goes to zero it defaults to a minimal camber curve.

Look at the difference between camber curve of the vintage tyres of the 250:

    Versus a semi slick:

The arrows just show the camber curve I am referring to, not anything specific on it.
The area above the x-axis shows the peak of 'grip' on the semi slick is significant, whereas on the 250 vintage its almost nothing.

  4. Do @David Dominguez have some idea what's making Kunos F1's FFB so unbelieveably dead in comparison with Race Sim Studio cars? I was doing some back to back runs at Suzuka and the SF70H doesn't behave hugely different to RSS Hybrid but the difference in FFB (and through Simvibe) is just massive! It honestly feels like a totally different game. How can so similar cars give so different feedback?

Have guys at Kunos tried what the game engine is capable of?

Looking at those screens the difference seems to be really big. But I could have sworn that when I was working on a setup for the GT40 a few months ago at Bridgehampton the car became more stable after I added some more rear camber.

And your exploits, tricks, setups "knowledge", hitting "correct" G's number on some app proves that it all means sheit without skills. I mean if you know all those alien secrets you should be running right there in their league, setting WR's. And from what I saw it's not the case.
Nothing personal, it's just tiring seeing you keep going with that bs all over the forum.

  6. Don't get me wrong, I haven't checked all the vintage tyres, so the Gt40 may be different. I'm talking specifically about the very narrow tyres like the Lotus 25, Maserati 250F and 250 GTO, I expect camber could play a larger role on the wider tyres of the GT40 (though not as much as modern radials).

  7. Its really just suspension/steering geometry which gives the game the information to send to your wheel - that's why FFB feels different in each car in AC (which is a good thing imo). So as the RSS Hybrid is fictional the geometry could be tweaked and tuned however he likes, (though its visibly a realistic setup), whereas Kunos presumably (hopefully) are constrained to that actual geometry of the SF70.

Another difference is that RSS have allowed the steering assist option open in the setup menu, and it defaults at 100% which is completely linear. Kunos typically go non-linear (and non-adjustable) for the high downforce cars in order to boost the signal at low speed as the downforce isn't there - personally thats something I like, so even in the RSS I turn the steer assist to around 80%, but I know a lot of people don't like it (hence why its an option for those cars).

  8. I understand that suspension geometries might play some role but I'm not sure if that's really the answer. Wouldn't it be hard to imagine such a big difference because the geometries cannot be that much different, no? Also I think steering assist is not the answer because the total lack of feedback goes 1:1 with the Simvibe too.

The front suspension geometry scrub radius on our car is around 5mm. The RSS Hybrid is I believe around 45mm.
The scrub radius is responsible to the jolts, vibrations and steering wheel movements, when front tyres go through bumps, kerbs, and so on. When racing constantly at 3g-5g forces, drivers need to have as small steering wheel movement as possible in order to stay precise for the 1.5hours race.
Engineers go to great lengths to make sure the suspension offers, amongst other things, the correct feedback while giving as little disturbance to the driver as possible. We try to respect their work and not "tweak" the resulting FFB to make it more interesting for a G27 or other consumer steering wheels.

We have a small idea, but we are always trying to learn new stuff.

Ever thought about freeing this option for the user to choose? I for example have the G27 wheel but the way I want the FFB delivered is linear and as close to real life as possible (with scaled down overall torque obviously). Shouldn't it be user choice whether he wants realistic or "more interesting" FFB?

  11. Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense. Only question left is why it affects Simvibe too? Edit: It actually makes sense. :p

That's why there are some effect sliders.

but tbh, if you're emphasizing so much on FFB, maybe a G25 or G27 just isn't good enough.

The wider late 60s racing tyres benefitted less from camber than the early 60s tyres . The Lotus 49 ran zero camber in 1967. The Gulf GT40 ran 0.333 degrees front negative camber and 0.167 degrees negative camber at the rear.

  14. Very good.

But in AC, they all have the same camber sensitivity as shown in the camber curve, meaning you will get minimal gains by running max camber on these cars.

Although for the alignment on slick it's a fact, nothing BS about it.

  16. It's interesting the difference between the cars. On another note, the Formula 2 and Formula Renault 3.5 (the real cars) have longer scrub radius than the Hybrid.

Didn't Aris say that he wants to have it as realistic as possible? Your reply doesn't seem to fit in as it stands...at least I don't understand what you're trying to say.

I do understand the last sentence I guess and holy crap do I disagree. You haven't been playing too much pCars 2 recently, by any chance? ;)

FFB in a sim should be no mix-and-match-at-will endeavour but clearly, absolutely clearly defined by the developers and fall out of their physics engine and the suspension geometry of the car...and the 1000 things I missed in here but you get the point.

That's what Kunos does plus you can have a little pepper and salt on top with the 3 effect sliders.

Everything else needed is there, for any wheel. If you have a G27 or so you can set the driver gain to the famous 107 % and fight the remaining deadzone with the deadzone slider. With the LUT you can iron out the non-linearity. Prevent clipping and you're good to go - it won't get any better on a wheel like that.

Why would F1 drivers want steering feel so dead as in SF70? There is barely any FFB loading up or becoming weak when understeering, it's almost like a static spring regardless of driving situation. Where as Kunos F2004 provides very good feel in all driving situations. Both are F1 cars used in 1h+ races. There is also SF15 which provides good feel and is only 2 years older than SF70. Why suddenly drivers wan't no feedback?

  19. This. Informative doesn't equal to heavy. These cars are equipped with power steering anyway.

I have a G27 and god the SF70H is sublime. I use enhanced underster in ff options though (always). No Gyro also.
I love also tge SF15, can't see why you say one is ok and the other awuful
