1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

This ruf is going to be an acquired taste

I made the mistake of assuming that the Yellowbird was based on a late-model 911, not the 1987 Carrera. So, rather than complain about this car, I must praise Kunos for producing, in such convincing detail, the very old-fashioned handling characteristics of a rather difficult to manage old-tech car. Using the default setup, this simulation reminds me of big, analogue beasts like the E-Type Jaguar; lots of power but very unstable under heavy braking, RPM must be managed very carefully on corner entry and it will understeer when entering corners too fast. Even with ABS and TC on, the braking is really, really antique and it seems to me you must baby this car around the track, as the drivetrain is not sophisticated, the car is not responsive in the way that a modern exotic sports car is and yet all that raw grunt will throw you off the track every time if you use it a little too enthusiastically. I got a bronze lap time when nursing it around Nurburgring GP but it certainly didn't feel fast. I genuinely admire the high-fidelity simulation but driver beware: put this in the same class as the Lotus 49 or the Cobra, not a Lotus or a Ferrari; it's a big analogue beast that must be coaxed around the track, not thrown!

Yup, not my style for a car. I like a well balanced car, that or really heavy one prone to oversteer. Don't like light-ish cars doing **** knows on braking...That and I don't understand how clutch works in this game. :D

I like it. Well balanced, fairly fast, but very easy to overdrive.

You need to drive it in a particular way, but when you do, it's quite neutral, leaning towards oversteer. Entry oversteer/understeer can be fixed with good braking, speed control and liberal use of steering accompanied by throttle. Set the diff power to 80%, brakes to 65% and add front camber.

This is a good car for AC because it will show everyone just how bad their technique is. It's nowhere near as slow and lumbering as the Cobra and with modern semislicks it should be able to outdo most streetcars in AC. It corners at nearly 1g, after all.

Interesting. I will make those setup changes and go at it again. What AI cars do you suggest I race it against in AC for the best competition?

    Really enjoying it.

Have only tried 90s street tyres so far and it's a tricky bugger.

  8. It's certainly a difficult beast in default mode without ABS or TC. Since it didn't have either of these, I have no intention of using them. I agree with Strummer in that it feels slow because of the way that it needs to be nursed around tracks. I am pretty sure that some Pors.....sorry, Ruf experts will be able to make my feeble attempts look pathetic, but that's life!

Having never actually driven a Porsche/Ruf in a sim before, I had some problems too for the first few minutes.

My advice is to go out and drift it to find out it's weaknesses.
I'd advise that for every streetcar, though. It's how I evaluate cars.

  10. The sim purist in me threw up in my mouth a little at the thought of using ABS or TCS with this car.

This car is hard to drive, it is supposed to be that way; Don't pay attention to all the times that the car kicks your butt, only remember those feels you get when you manhandle it and make it bow to your will.

    Edit:
I didn't like this car for the first hour or so that I drove it. Then I took it to Tsukuba with street tires and set the track surface to 'fast'...an hour or so later, and a couple refuels, and the passion was white hot. I can't drift for anything, but the slides that I could recover from and even initiate were unlike anything I have been able to do in AC prior. I highly recommend the combo. The track is available at Racedepartment.

The problem is that people try to manhandle it. If you want it to turn in, you brake and turn the wheel. Not much more I can explain. Trying to force it because it's an old car will just make it understeer or tankslap.

I've been chomping at the bit to get my wheel on this car! It didn't disappoint one bit. I've been calling hard for porsche for a couple of years now and had read up on this beast a while ago. This car is stupid fast and when you string a few consistent laps together, not much else feels like it!

Let the rear end do the work for you to get a great exit. This car does need to be looked after for heavy breaking. That being said, the sound is amazing and running it full manual with the clubsport shifter had been a pure treat!

This has been an excellent week, with the 787B and the yellow bird!

Is got the engine in the rear, give it a little turn in and the back wall swing it oh so slightly to get the car to rotate. It's freaking brilliant what they have accomplished!

I like that driver car on servers, compared with GT2/3 usual stuff... I'm sideways more that I should, but so are the others :)
This car makes me feel once again this sim as a great potential. I'll stick around (in a sandtrap...) and see how it evolves, and have fun in the meantime!

Should it be driven with paddles or shifter for authenticity? If it had a sequential shifter IRL (which seems plausible) then there is no authentic option for me and my G27.

Sequential shifter, on a 1987 roadcar. Amusing.

No, 5 speed manual, with a weird shifter.

  18. It was an H-pattern....Ferrari street cars didn't even have paddles in the late 80's
