1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

If I want to drive a DAY stage in Wales to start with is that possible? Or any stage in Wales starts with a nightstage?

    Cheers
    Robin

  2. I think the conditions are always random. Sometimes you get daylight, sometimes night time, sometimes rain. Changes when you restart the game.

Check out from 1 - 1:30 the narrowness of the stage. This is just awesome.

A rally driver on some Aussie forums said that if RBR replicated rallying exactly as RL then all the rally drivers would be dead (or something to that effect)

there is a button to randomize settings, so you can keep pressing it, until you get what you want :)

btw. I'm starting to see some interesing behaviour,
it seems that to almost every turn, when you understeer, you can tap handbrake and it will help you a lot to make the turn

now, I'm not the one to say if this is how you drive rallye car, but it feels weird.

but it still pretty awesome to drive!!!

I though about the narrow stages and felt , it's not so bad, - but that's becasue I was driving Mini :D :D .. when I switched to Fiesta WRC, it was different story!

Robin, you can change the condition of the stage in the stage selection screen.
Look at the bottom of the screen - there is a small legend, explaining which button will alter what setting in most menus.
Unfortunately as of yet the buttons are simply named "1" "2" "3", etc … You have to try and press buttons to find out what button does what.

With a Fanatec CSR wheel with up and downshift mapped to the paddles, it happens I can change the stage conditions with the paddles ;-)

They indeed do seem to be altered randomly but can be changed in the screen where selecting the specific stage (see above).
Dirt Rallye and had a quick look through the first previews online and saw some footage on Youtube, it took me less than 10sec to enter my Steam account and send them my money.

The only Codemasters games I liked where Colin McRae Rallye 1+2 and Toca 1+2 - all of these for the old grey Playstation and none of them really Simulators but really great racing games.
As a kid I spent whole nights, racing a classic rally car around the tight village roads around Corsica, sliding over icy mountain passes of the Rallye Monte Carlo and had sweaty hands during the monumental SS legs during the night.

Those for me was the golden age of Codemasters - everything that came after didn't concern me.
I don't have a grudge with Codemasters and frankly find the attitude against the company by some here quite laughable ;-)

Rallye and sports car racing are the motorsports most dear to me.
Since Richard Burns Rallye there has not been any descent Rallye simulator around - a long long time indeed.

I have truly high hopes for this one and find what I see from a game in Alpha very, very solid.

    What needs attention:

    1. FFB - the weakest area at the moment and quite frankly it feels like a placeholder (I hope so). There is no road connection feel at the moment and absolutely no steering precision whites ever at the moment. This was one of the very strength of RBR - you truly felt the road detail and the slightest tweak of your chassis setup would directly influence your car's behavior. I truly hope, Codemasters can get to this.
It should be their absolute priority for now - from the receptionist to the cleaning lady, everyone should focus all their attention to fix the steering.

    2. point of view/ cockpit/ triple screen - as it is now, it is solid and manageable. I am sure people who race with a single monitor find it great as it is.
For me though I can't find the perfect, immersive position and POV that provides both sense of speed and the right FOV.
Assetto Corsa has us spoiled here I guess ;-)
An issue is that you cannot disable steering wheel and drivers hands at the moment (absolute must feature for everyone with a (properly set up rig).

If these two points are solved, I feel I got my money's worth already and I would only hope for additional rally stages and maybe one or the other car package DLC.
As it is right now, it is a quite nice and solid curiosity, to run a nice rally gravel stage from time to time amid all the asphalt action, Assetto Corsa and R3E are providing (and soon PCars ?).

The strongest points (and truly surprising to me):

    - the rally stages - beautifully built, very interesting and challenging, nice details and adequate graphics
    - the sound - it is not hair-raisingly beautiful or blood pressure enhancing, but it is a really good, solid sound. This is how these rally cars are supposed to sound is what I get from the first stages. I simply did not expect the sound to be this good and usable.

In my opinion, everyone whose heart is ticking for Rallye, this is money well spent.
I simply could not believe that the main issue by far (FFB and steering in general) will not be solved, as it is so glaringly bad at the moment that it surely will be much improved should this software see the gold status some day.
I am happy to confirm with my money to the devs that the direction they went, coming from past games is the right one and I wrote with my money without hesitation to Codemasters to continue in this direction.

Yes I am hoping for a Richard Burns Rallye 2.0.

It has been mentioned in this thread a few times, that the devs expressed RBR to be "too difficult", etc … please read up on the context for this statement. There is some nice articles and interviews with the makers online already. Apparently one of the devs is an active rally enthusiast, having spent a fair bit of time behind the wheel of a proper Rallye car and his opinion (and the opinion of other rally drivers alike) is reflected in this statement.
It has not mentioned out of thin air "this rally game is too difficult, we will make ours easier".

As for this current version I am afraid no one apart from the devs can truly judge how advanced and realistic the physics of Dirt Rallye really are, as it's current steering and FFB implementation leaves much to be desired.
Once this is improved and we will have sufficient road feel and steering behavior, it will be easier to support or pick apart the insides of Dirt Rallye.

I am as enthusiastic for Dirt Rallye and what it can potentially be as I was when I stumbled over the early access of Assetto Corsa some months ago. Assetto Corsa has turned out to be absolutely fantastic.

bought...what can i say, near my working place there's a gavel road sometimes i drive to have some rally daytime, and must say that the feeling on the car response is similar (considering that i'm driving a fwd car with stock tires) so i'm pretty impressed, they only need to work on ffb to let driver feel more road surface information trough the wheel

After some further testing I do have to revise my opinion a bit. Grip seems to be a bit too high in many cases. However, when accelerating out of tight hairpins with the Escort MK2, it sometimes gives me the feeling of a true RWD car on gravel.

RWD on tarmac does not feel very good though.

Some cars seems to feel better than others. I have my wheel set to 900 with a saturation between 50-70 and I like how the Impreza Grp A feels, but when switching to the new Fiesta with the same settings it didn't feel good at all.

I think the tarmac physics are placeholders (especially since Monte Carlo track layouts are basically inherited from the DiRT 3 DLC). I assume it will be replaced as they get further along in the Early Access.

Tips on racedepartment for how to "borrow" the FFB controller config file from DiRT 3 and improve the FFB considerably.

You can either just press one button after another on the wheel during the menu or (I suppose, as I didn't test it) you can look into the Windows gaming controller menu where you can press each button and see which of the lights will respond - these are numbered and it might be that the numbers will fit to what is displayed in Dirt Rally.

Very nice screens! Yes, look and sound is plenty already, now all we need is the FFB fixed.

It is often written that the no copilot sound bug appears also with some users not showing the HUD symbols, even when properly enabled in the preferences.

He is a Dutch rally driver, so the game definitely has a lot in common with the real world/the same skill is involved

Really, really? Those stories still 'pass' among people? Jesus.. That rally driver NEEDS to be accustomed to the simulation games, to the fact that there are no other forces in a sim other then force feedback, that rally driver needs to be an experienced 'simmer' at the same time, in order for those statements to have any real value... I thought i won't be seeing those 'stories' mentioned anymore but there you go.

agree with boris, made a indeep test today at lunch time, and i must say, no connection to the road at all....tried every stearing lock (BTW wich one is the right one?) ZERO feeling when the car is sliding , and it's so hard to recover because of this, plus no handbrake effect at all through the wheel, and i use an analog device for handbrake, dirt 3 feels better than this one as i remember, and i use the dirt 3 ffb xml, if i use the stock one i have unbelivable center spring and the same no road information, for now it's just a WOW game for the friends...damn Kunos now that we have AC i can't play any other racing game...all games feel ****ty...
