1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Teach me- avoiding tank slappers (snap back oversteer)?

I was the same when I got my g25 first, and it took me a long time to be able to drift as good as I can in real life or with a game pad, I thought I had wasted my money on a wheel. But once you get it you wonder how you couldn't do it before.

I'm in the same boat as you pretty much. I can drift like it's second nature in real life and LFS, but on AC I just feel stupid even trying at times lol. I haven't tried it more recently for lack of time, but I did find myself spinning a lot when I was testing it as well. I can catch and ride out about 10-60% of drifts in-sim, but when it comes to straightening out, I get a lottt of FFB side to side that feels like I'm drifting a 10,000lb limo so I spin. I've tried every setting I could find and all the "best" just ends up the same.

Of course I'm going to get bashed for saying this, but as far as I'm concerned there's only one problem with the physics of this game, and it's the snap back oversteer, the sudden regain of grip which leads to it.

I had the opportunity to drive an M5 and had more success drifting it IRL than the stock M3 in the game. Watch any Chris Harris onboard video: no, you don't need to snap the wheel back like a maniac to continue straight from a drift.

After the 0.15 physics update they introduced much bigger grey area. Surely they will improve it further.

I have no doubt about that. Even if it doesn't get fixed any time soon there's still pleeeeenty of fun to be had. :)

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I mean you can go into a nice drift, hold it then slowly and gently recover out of it, have wheels straight with the tiniest little bit of sideways momentum left over and the tires suddenly regain full grip and BAM massive overswing. Is almost like you are driving a tank that has suddenly chucked 12 inch spikes out of its tracks and unleashed some massive momentum from somewhere.

I know from sliding a bike around that the contact patch of the tires actually varies percentage-wise with how much is sliding and how much is gripping. (I can actually feel these percentages change, particularly when sliding the front wheel whilst cornering). It almost seems like in AC that this contact patch is either 0% grip or 100% grip - no progressive change when exiting a slide. Seem to be able to get varying grip levels while cornering though?

    Interesting read.... http://insideracingtechnology.com/tirebkexerpt2.htm

Maybe still work in progress - here's hoping ;). Aside from this, I really like the physics in Assetto Corsa, after years of iRacing this is just head and shoulders better, I vomit in my mouth a little when I jump back into iRacing for a bit of comparo now and then hehe. Thank god it only cost me $1 to renew for month after a pretty long break...my last month in iRacing I think!

Just a q on semantics.. 'tank slapper' is also used for this sort of loss of control in a car?
I learned the term from riding bikes.. from your knees or bars going back and forth to the max and 'slapping' the gas tank

^ Yes, the term originated from Bikes but it is used in auto racing as well to describe a slide that causes a counter slide when you try to catch it. It can happen many times back and forth while trying to regain composure. In drifting a controlled intentional tank slapper is called a manji.
